Weekly Highlights

The best parts of my week were...

1. We got to go to the Arkansas State Fair for the first time and had a great time!  We were waiting in line to purchase tickets to get in and a police officer walked up and gave us two tickets!  He said he hoped we had a great time.  We were so surprised and thankful for his generosity.  We ate the world's best funnel cake from The Funnel Cake Factory (my husband requested ours have extra powdered sugar because that's how I like it), saw the barns full of animals (giant cows, 2 day old piglets, a camel, zebra, goats, chicks who were playing on a water slide and a random ground hog), watched a tiger show, people watched and enjoyed the first cool evening of Fall.

2. My husband recruited me to help him insert all of his dissertation data into an enormous Excel file.  Not the most exciting job I've ever been "hired" to do but I was pleased to figure it out.  It made me feel good to do some family teamwork and help him work towards achieving his goal of defending his dissertation in December.

3. I tried a new recipe for Italian Nachos and they were SO GOOD!!  Stop back by my blog in a few days for the recipe; it would be the perfect game day food and it's really easy to make!!

4.My cats have been extra cute lately.
They want to snuggle any time the baby isn't occupying my lap.

5.  An older lady approached me when I was having breakfast at Dennys on Monday.  She was probably in her 70s.  She smiled sweetly at me and said, "You look real neat."  I smiled back and thanked her.  She went on to say that she loved all of the colors I was wearing and thought I looked "real pretty."  I smiled, thanked her again and told her to have a great day.
A good reminder of how one compliment can brighten someone's day.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
