Reading for Fun

It's easy to get caught up with busy schedules, crying babies, laundry and life in general but I've been making efforts to take time to read for fun this year.  I'll try to share a little book review with you so you can add a few books to your must read list.

Several people mentioned this on different mommy forums I'd read so I thought it would be worth the $25 investment.  I LOVE it so far!!  The book is broken up into wonder weeks of a baby's life and each milestone week comes with a chapter detailing the changes, new abilities and milestones your child can be expected to hit around this time.  I find it facinating as a first time mom and appreciate the heads up on what's to come and what is "normal" baby behavior.  It isn't judgey, I don't fret if my child isn't quite doing something they list and the book makes me feel more prepared to tackle mommyhood.  There's also an app for this book but I opted for the hard copy instead.

I was skeptical about Duck Dynasty in general when it started sweeping the nation.  However, after watching one episode, I was hooked!  I love the Robertson family and love their Christian influence.  I was excited to read the back story of how Duck Commander came to be and the book did not disappoint.  I loved the husband and wife writing style and appreciated their different viewpoints about the same events in their lives.  It was exciting to see how God has had His hand in their lives and businesses.  The book is a quick read and you'll definitely come away loving the Robertson's even more.

I had never read anything by Billy Graham so I was looking forward to reading a compilation of his quotes.  It's organized really well so you can read it cover to cover or just read the sections that are applicable to you.  There is a Bible verse to go with the theme and then pages of quotes on the subject by Mr. Graham.  I felt as though I was in a church listening to sermons by Graham as I read through the book.  It was very inspirational, enjoyable to read and I took notes throughout the book.  A great addition to my personal library and I think it'll be a good reference to go back to in the future.

Disclaimer: I was gifted this book in exchange for writing a review for BookSneeze.  The opinions are all my own.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE leave a comment with some of your favorites so I can be inspired to keep up with my goal of reading for fun!!

  1. Hi Whitney! I just finished a book that was gifted to me by a friend. It is called COLD TANGERINES by Shauna Niequest. It is a feel good, spiritual growth type book and a very quick read. It's cheerful and about getting the most out of life that God's gifted us. She actually just wrote a new book called BREAD AND WINE that she mentions on her website (www.shaunaniequest.com) that incorporates food and fellowship around your table at home. I may read that one next.
