12 FUN Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

(Olive's 1st St. Patrick's Day 2014!)
I thought I'd do a little round up of my favorite St Patrick's Day ideas for you today from the PDP archives.  I usually decorate for the holiday right after Valentine's Day and then plan a fun Irish themed menu to celebrate on the 17th.  This year my St. Pats Day decorations are buried in storage and my 35 week pregnant self wasn't up for all the heavy lifting to find them.  So we have a handful of decorations out, a cheery wreath on the door and will have a yummy menu of Irish goodies to enjoy next week.

I didn't grow up celebrating St. Patrick's Day, but marrying a Notre Dame guy made me reprioritize this holiday.  He loves when we decorate and do fun things for the holiday.  A bonus is that a lot of our ND game day accessories work well for the whole month of March.  We always try to do something fun and most years we have a blast except for that year that I woke up and realized my car had been STOLEN!  Not the luckiest St. Patrick's Day ever...  Glad that event is many years behind us because it's funny now :)

Our FUN plans for this year include:
We made St. Patrick's Day cards to send out to our family & friends this week
Enjoy St. Patrick's Day Lucky Charms and sort them
Eat an Irish themed dinner at home
Make Kevin Irish Soda Bread
Rainbow themed meal for Olive
Make treats to send in to Kevin's co-workers

12 of My Best of St. Patrick's Day
Ideas for You:

*Tune back in next week to see our cards from this year

I'm not a huge jello fan, but this is one of my very favorite things.  It's soooo good!!

When I was teaching, I'd always plan a fun rainbow day for St. Patrick's Day.  The kids would bring in treats to share and we'd snack throughout the day.  We'd graph our treats, make predictions and enjoy learning through the holiday.
Turn your favorite kiddos into leprechauns and have them write limericks

I also have a St. Patrick's Day board with almost 200 ideas for fun things I'd like to try!
Be sure to check it out if you're still on the hunt for good ideas.

Follow Whitney's board St. Patricks Day on Pinterest.

Do you do anything fun to celebrate St. Patrick's Day??
I'm always on the hunt for new ideas to try out with my family.

  6. You are seriously one of the best holiday celebraters I know :)! I LOVE it! My MIL makes the rainbow Jello all the time and the kids love that stuff. Emily tries to peel it apart which is always comical. I hope you are having a great Tuesday!

  9. You would think that since I had great-grandparents immigrate from Ireland, my family would have a good St. Patrick's tradition. You would be wrong, haha.
