Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends!  We've been in Christmas Break mode over here since the kids have been done with school since the 15th.  I baked a ton and we had a good week with family and friends.

Here are the highlights of our week:

1. Record Week

When I say that I spent a ton of time baking, I'm not kidding.  It was a record baking week for Jordan Bakery Box.  I baked about 50 dozen cookies for orders this week.  It was a really fun challenge and I'm proud to have it behind me.  I have a few more orders to finish up the year, but it was awesome to finish the year BIG.

2. Dinner & A Game

We met family for dinner at our favorite pizza spot and then the boys headed to a basketball game.  The pizza was delicious.  We had a good time.  And Fletcher enjoyed the one on one time with Kevin.

3. Elf Work

Our elves have been busy.  They brought crafts and treats to finish up the week.  The kids all made cute angel ornaments for out tree and we used their Christmas card picture for the angel faces.

4. Kitty cuddles

It was chilly all week so we had out the blankets.  The cats were thrilled.

7. Neighbor gifts

The kids helped me deliver neighbor treats and cards.  I baked chocolate chip cookie bars and made them chocolate covered pretzels.

A neighbor delivered us a loaf of homemade bread and cinnamon butter!  It was so good.  I love a delicious Christmas gift made with love.

8. S'more Station

We set up a s'more station and Kevin helped the kids make a snack.

9. We played games!

10.  Our cute cousin Addison turned 17!

She had a pancakes and pajamas party.  Everything was yummy and Leo LOVED helping her open gifts.  He was so cute and so animated. 

11. We watched a lot of Christmas movies!

We really enjoyed Family Switch, The Grinch, Home Alone 1 & 2 and a few others.  Along with tons of snacks.

12. Christmas with Friends

We had some fun Christmas celebrations with friends.  I loved how this gift came together.  We got our friends gifts and these ornaments seemed perfect for them.  Sams paper and ribbon for the win.  I love to stock up on cute ornaments when I can find them on clearance and then save them for gift toppers the next year.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!  I hope you had a great week.  My week was long!  We've been working on potty training with Leo which is exciting and exhausting.  I didn't get done quite as much as I had hoped.  I think I'm trying to cram too much into my last few days before Summer break.  And I kept forgetting what day it was and everything seemed all jumbled.  But we had a good one :)

Now onto my favorite moments of the week:

1 // Family Dinner Charcuterie Board + Pepperoni Bread sticks

When the weather warms up, my family loves to have charcuterie boards for dinner.  I made this one this week and everyone enjoyed it.  I try to chop the veggies and the cheeses up in advance so that I can put the board together quickly at dinner time.

Kevin picked up a new frozen bread stick for us to try and they were delicious.  We were fighting over them!  It's so nice to add one warm thing to your dinner boards to make them a little more filling.  We will definitely buy these loaded pepperoni bread sticks again!

2 // Wrapping up school lunch duty

I love packing yummy lunches for the kids.  I have 3 sets of school lunches left to pack this year.  I asked the kids to tell me what they get most excited to see in their school lunches.  Fletcher said a PPJ (aka PBJ) and Olive said noodles.  They both like chocolate dipped pretzels and berries and Reese's cups.  I know they both really enjoy their big hug from home in the middle of their school day.

3 // Jordan Bakery Box

It's been a busy week at Jordan Bakery Box!  I had an order for camo cookies and pretzels, rainbow cookies, school spirit cookies and then I made some teacher cookie boxes.  I also got to add my red, white and blue M&M cookies back to the menu for Summer!

 4 // Mother's Day fun

We had a great Mother's Day and it seems like the festivities and special treatment lasted all week long!

5 // Sweet Penny

Penny loves Fletcher so much.  She's his shadow she he's home and it's the sweetest.

6 // Backyard Fun

We played outside as much as possible all week.  Sidewalk chalk art, gardening, catching critters, playing games, reading outside, making s'mores and more.  The weather was so nice in the Midwest!

7 // Mountain Climbing Leo

Now that Leo is three, he's stronger and bigger and an even better climber.  This week I found him climbing into the fridge for a snack, on top of the stove getting his own banana and on the counters looking for the jar of jelly beans.  He wants zero help and he needs a bodyguard.

8 // FIELD DAY!

Both big kids had their field days this week.  They were so so excited for them.  Kevin went to cheer them on and their PE teacher came up with the neatest games.  They played hard and they both came home exhausted.  They also had the Kona Ice Truck show up at school and all the kids got snow cones one day this week!

9 // Nothing But Time

Have you heard Kate @naptimekitchen talk about having #nothingbuttime in regards to being home with her little kids?  I love the idea of slowing down and enjoying the little things more because there are definitely pockets of our days where we have nothing but time.  This week I let Leo out of his stroller on our walk so that he could check out the flowers a little closer.  He was thrilled.  And it was a good reminder for me to not always be so task oriented 24/7.

10 // Herb Garden

I've always wanted to have a small herb garden on my patio and this year we made it happen!  I planted green onions that I'd been growing in my fridge from store bought onions, cilantro, catnip, dill and basil.  I can't wait to trim some to use in recipes this Summer.

Jordan Bakery Box

I'm excited to tell you some behind the scenes details of Jordan Bakery Box today.

I had been feeling the urge to bake and sell for a while.  

I envisioned selling cookies and bread right away.  As you know, I build charcuterie boards for my family all the time.  Some friends would tell me that they'd love to buy boards from me for their families for holidays.  I got to thinking of ways I could build boxes for other families.  I ironed out the logistics on the treadmill most days :) and with the help of family and friends.  I ended up launching JBB with charcuterie boxes!

Coming up with a name was hard.  I'd find things I like and then go to see if they were available on Facebook and Instagram.  That sent me back to the drawing board several times.  I started dreaming of Jordan Bakery Box - everything I sell in a pretty box wrapped with a bow and it just fit.  

I designed my logo - polka dots are true to my brand, three rings around my logo for my 3 kids, 1 ring for Kevin, fonts that felt like me and everything black and white.  I ordered pie boxes, ribbon and logo stickers in bulk.  It was a risk and I'm working hard to make my little bakery dream come true.

Kevin and the kids are super proud.  They love knowing their friends or teachers or neighbors are buying boxes from me.  Olive labeled boxes for her friends and Fletcher wrote hi to his friends on their boxes.  Olive is getting great reviews from teachers at school.  Fletcher promotes for me at school and tells people to find me on Facebook and the big kids help take care of Leo when it's box building crunch time.  Kevin is all hands on deck helping me wrangle kids if I need to shop or chop.  It's a whole team effort.

I started by selling a few St Patrick's Day boxes to friends.  I sold 4 and learned a ton by assembling those boxes for the first time.

I worked out some of the kinks, bought a bigger cooler and then offered Easter boxes across all my social media channels.  I got a great response and sold 18 boxes.  Kevin surprised me and bought us a mini fridge to help store all the boxes and supplies.  I really appreciated him believing in me.

I'm currently selling Hello Spring charcuterie boxes this week.  Orders get picked up on Friday/Saturday by local friends and neighbors and new friends as word gets out.  My plan is to offer boxes to buy 1-2 times a month.

I am so happy to have a job that I can do from home, with my kids around.  I can prep things at night.  Shop for inventory with Leo and build my business around my day to day mom routine.  It's been really rewarding and really exciting.
