A Day at Marco Island

We spend one day of our Florida trip at Marco Island.
There are tons of locals and not many tourists.
It's a quiet place with good beaches.
They are very shell-y so be sure to bring sandals to walk on the beach.
We paid to park across the street and walked over to the beaches.
There are restaurants at the hotels and we ate lunch with a beach view.
It was a cloudy day which was perfect for us.
We weren't too hot and no one got sun burned.

Marco Island is 20-30 minutes from Naples so it was fun to visit a variety of beaches.  We all decided that the beaches in Naples were our favorite because they were less crowded and the sand was fluffier.

Tuesday Talk: Kids Want Our TIME

I've only been a parent for a few years, but I'm learning that the most important thing I can give my daughter is my TIME.  I love planning trips and fun activities for her.  I get excited to introduce her to new things, but the most precious thing I can give her is my time.  I don't need to spend loads of money on her all the time.  She just wants to spend time with her parents.

She just wants our TIME.

She wants to be with us.

She wants us to look her in the eyes when she talks to us.

She wants us to hold her.

She wants us to be silly with her.

She wants to help us and to get to do things with us.

She wants us to teach her new things.

She wants us to look when she says "Wook Mama!"

She wants us to answer her questions.

She wants us to sit on the floor and play with her.

She wants us to rock her to sleep.

She wants us to be there for her.

She needs us and we need her.

I'm learning and relearning this every single day.
Some of our best times are low key, spontaneous moments together.

Learning to golf.

 Doing yard work together.

 Watching airplanes fly by.

 Enjoying each others company.

Favorite Summer Shoes

My favorite shoes for summer are Saltwater Sandals.
They are cute, comfy and last forever.
I've had my red pair for 8ish years and they still look brand new.  I've worn them everywhere, gotten them wet and they still look great.

The sizing is a little strange.
I wear a 7 in Saltwaters and a 9 in other brands so be sure to check the size chart.
They are $40 with free shipping on mysaltwatersandals

Olive had fuscia Saltwaters last summer and they were adorable.
They come in all colors for girls and boys.

We went with Sea Wees this year and have loved them.
They are super cute, durable and look great after wearing them daily.
I bought Olive's off of e-bay this year and they have been great.
I paid around $15 and would definitely buy gently used Sea Wees in the future.

I'd love to have the navy ones, brown ones or the gold.
I'd also love to have matching sandals with Olive one summer.

What shoes do you wear the most in the summer?

Fun in the Sun: Naples' Beaches

We went to the beaches in Naples two times during our week there
and they were amazing (minus the abundance of men in speedos - haha).
The water is lovely.
They were not crowded.
Not tons of kids.
Shells galore.  Friendly starfish.
Warm waters.
Clean and clear water.
Really easy beach access -
pay to park on the street and walk 100 yards to your chair son the beach
(I had to ask my husband that :)

Our days in picture overload.
Feel free to skim :)

 DAY 1
Olive loved the sand and the waves.
We brought toys for her to play with and she loved collecting shells.
I'd find them and she'd throw them back.

I brought sunnies and a big hat for her to keep her face from getting burned.  She didn't care for the sunnies, but loved the hat.  She wore it the whole time and didn't get burned at all.  Her swimsuit was also great for protecting her from the sun.  A week in Florida and she didn't get burned once.  Hooray!

We built the castles and she stomped them flat.
She thought it was hilarious.  It was quite entertaining.

 DAY 2
Another fun day in the sand
