Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

Salty and sweet is one of my favorite snack combinations.  I offered to make treats for my husband's co-workers and he requested these yummy pretzels.  They are so festive and delicious so I knew they'd be perfect.  Plus they aren't too complicated and can easily be done in just a few hours.

Here's how to make your own
Chocolate Dipped Pretzels
1 bag of caramel bits - 2 bags if you want all of the pretzels dipped in caramel
3 bags of pretzel rods
2 bricks of chocolate almond bark
1/4 c milk
toppings: Sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, and candies
wax paper

Add milk to caramel bits and melt on low heat stirring often.

Open pretzel rods and remove all of the broken pieces.

Get a spatula and start scooping caramel over the pretzel.
Twirl pretzel to ensure that all sides are coated
and leave the end plain so you will have something to hold on to.
Lay on wax paper to dry.

Melt one brick of almond bark on low heat.

Set up your candies and sprinkles while the chocolate is melting.

Once the caramel is pretty dry to the touch, start putting chocolate on them.
Stick the pretzel rod into the melted chocolate and use your spatula to help coat the pretzel.
I dipped 5 or 6 pretzels and then would pause to add toppings to them.

For packaging up your treats, you'll need
cellophane bags with twist ties (these are $2 for 20 at Target) and twine
*If you have time to make labels for each one you could stamp Merry Christmas and use washi tape to decorate your tags.  I ran out of time for this step.
4 pretzel rods per bag - I did two caramel chocolate and two plain chocolate per bag
