Happy Friday, Friends! I hope you've had a nice week. Our week was busy and fun.

Now onto my favorite moments of the week:
1 // Dinner with Friends
We got invited over for a spaghetti dinner with friends. They made a delicious meal for us and we brought the salad and homemade bread. It feels so good to have finally learned how to make bread after years of not feeling very confident in this department.
2 // 10,000 steps
Fletcher LOVES the days when he hits 10,000 steps! This watch/step tracker from Amazon has been such a fun thing for him this year. It's been really user friendly and fun for both big kids (ages 6 and 9). It's under $30 and it comes in several different colors. He manages it all by himself with a little help from Kevin syncing to an app. He loves comparing his steps on gym days to not gym days and thinks it so fun to keep track of steps on our family walks. Here are my Amazon links:
3 // Meetings + Friends
What's better than this combo!? You can't beat talking about interesting things with your favorite people.
4 // Creek Kids
The boys would move out to the creek in a tent if I'd let them. My parents hung out with the boys one day this week and they did lots of exploring. Fletcher was home from school because he woke up not feeling his best. Thankfully sunshine and fresh air was just the cure he needed. You won't believe the creature they found...
Fletcher and Papaw caught a giant crawdad. He was 7 inches long - wowza. We had fun with the crawdad/"Big Daddy" for the day and released him that evening.
5 // F for Fletcher
He found a brick in the creek and broke it to make himself an F for his bookshelf.
6 // Blooming
I was really hoping for some more snow before Spring hit, but it looks like we'll have to wait until next year for that. Everything is blooming! And the kids made me surprise pipe cleaner bouquet of flowers. Spring is in the air.
7 // It's good to be the baby.
Leo asked Olive to hold him and she toted him around the yard like a little prince.
8 // Lucky Girl
Olive is really great at finding 4 leaf clovers. She found five in our yard this week. She's really good at puzzles so I'm not surprised that she's got a good eye for clovers. It was fun for her to discover something else that she's really good at. Clovers are my favorite so we are smashing them and hoping to frame them.
9 // Exercising with Leo
We missed a few days this week due to wild weather, but I look forward to exercising with him every day. Spending my days with him is my favorite.
10 // Dinosaur Phase
Leo woke up one day asking for dinosaurs. Thankfully I saved all of the dinosaurs that Fletcher loved when he was two for Leo. He's been sleeping with them, eating with them and toting them all over the house in this tiny little wagon. It's the perfect size wagon for little ones to tote things all around the house or the yard. My Amazon link:
11 // No thank you
Anytime we ask Leo to do something and he doesn't want to, he says no thank you. Time to put on a jacket - no thank you. Time for dinner - no thank you. Let's go to bed - no thank you. Toddlers are so funny. He's eager to be a big kid and do all the big kid things. Like having his own barstool.
12 // Hold My Hand
Leo is pretty patient waiting on his siblings, but he's started asking for me to hold his hand while we wait. It's awkward and not the easiest for me to do, but I make it work for those smiles.
13 // Tornado Warning
Middle of the day tornado warnings are not my favorite. Especially when the whole family is scattered at school and work. The sirens went off in Southern Indiana and our phones blew up with messages to get to your tornado shelter spots. The big kids have done tornado drills many times, but this was their first real tornado drill. The skies got dark, the wind picked up and thankfully a few minutes later the sunshine and blue skies arrived. We had damage in our area, but we were all safe. Fletcher's teacher posted happy smiling pictures of the kids in their shelter spots and it was such a relief to see the kids doing just fine during this intense hour at school.
14 // Bible Study
Leo and I headed to Bible study yesterday which is always a favorite moment of our week. It was a sweet morning with friends. Leo's preschool class teacher told me that they call him "Little Linebacker" on Sundays :) And my table was in charge of making brunch for everyone. The meal was SO GOOD! Look at all this delicious food.
Sadly, while our Bible study was happening, there was also a funeral happening for one of our local police officers. He collapsed during a training and later passed away. His 3 kids are the same ages as my kids and he was only 33. The church was packed with people and police. Leo loved seeing all of the policeman and their vehicles with their lights on. But I couldn't help but tear up thinking of the wife and kids Officer Hacker leaves behind. So sad!!
We're looking forward to a fun weekend. See you back here on Monday!

Saying a prayer for Officer Hacker's wife and kids. Heart breaking for them.
ReplyDeleteThat is so tragic about the police officer! My heart broke when I read that. The crawdad is HUGE!
ReplyDeleteA yummy meal with friends and homemade bread is the best! My heart breaks for that police officer's family.
ReplyDeleteOne of the many things I like about your posts is being reminded of my kids when they were that age! Nicholas used to say the same thing as Leo whenever we'd ask him to do something, but with an added flair. Nick, pick up your jacket. "No thank you, you do it!" All. The. Time! I'm sorry about the officer. I'm so sad for his little family, friends and parents!
