Happy Friday!! We are ready for the weekend! This week was a good one. We had a lot of family fun, watched a lot of football, spent time outside and I watched Elvis. Have you seen it yet? I love a good documentary. I also visited Graceland with my parents back in 2011 and that was a wild experience. I'd recommend going and seeing the extravagant details of his home to anyone - we toured his plane, all of his themed rooms and I've never seen anything like it. The movie gives you a very interesting behind the scenes vantage point of the highs and lows of his life. It helps you to see how wild and wonderful and polarizing Elvis really was during his lifetime.
I was also so so sad that Queen Elizabeth passed away this week. I've loved following her life. I have watched every documentary and show about The Royal Family and read so many things about them. She was such an interesting, devoted woman. She was one of a kind. I am planning to enjoy all the tributes to her in the coming weeks.
Let me tell you about the highlights of our week.
1 // Moving is Hard and feeling at home at a new church feels extra hard.
We have found a church home (hooray!) and Leo and I joined a mom's group this week. It's hard to be new. Neither of us had friends to meet up with and we were both a little nervous. Thankfully we made fast friends with a very promising Bible study group for the year. There was a delicious breakfast buffet, lots of good conversation with moms and we are excited to go back. Plus, who doesn't love a mid week reminder that Jesus loves us :)
2 // Game Day Cookies
I launched my Fall game day cookies and can't wait to make all the team color cookies. If you're local - Evansville IN - message me @jordanbakerybox on instagram or email me jordanbakerybox@hotmail.com to place an order!
3 // Long Weekend
We had fun together Labor Day weekend and I had this whole crew with me to exercise. Olive and Fletcher prefer to scooter and Leo is happy to ride. We had a ton of rain so we tried to get outside anytime it wasn't raining.
4 // Exercise Buddy
Speaking of exercise, I'm off to a good start in September. Now that it's no longer feeling like the surface of the sun in the Midwest, I feel good about bringing Leo along for stroller rides. He's happy to wave hello to all of our neighbors or neighborhood dogs, look for wildlife, bring cars along with him and keep close tabs on all the construction sites. It feels good to be exercising again.
5 // Rainbows
You know how rainbows are my favorite - reminding me of God's provisions and plans for our family. Well I have this spot in my house that ends up with a rainbow reflection most mornings. I can't quite figure out how this happens, but it brings me comfort and joy.
6 // Sink Bath
Confession: My main motivation for keeping my sink dish free is so that I can give Leo a sink bath :) He loves it and I know it won't be long before he's too big for this.
7 // PSL
Olive has been counting down the days until the PSL drink made its fall debut. She couldn't wait. Kevin took her to get a PSL or two over the long weekend. She loves all the Fall flavors (pumpkin, apple, caramel, ginger, molasses, etc) so this was totally her jam. Fletcher tagged along and opted for a slushy instead.
8 // Nana
We got to go to Kevin's Nana's house for my MIL's birthday party. She made the most delicious homemade chocolate cake, sent Olive home with a bag of Molasses cookies (her favorite!!) and she had mac & cheese for Fletcher and Leo ate a little bit of everything. Nana loves to feed people - What can I send you home with!?! she says - and we love her so much.
9 // Okra
Are you an okra fan?? We had friends give us some okra and I'm learning how to prepare it. I have done fried okra - so yummy - and am working on a soup with okra in it next. Stay tuned for more okra details.
Have you ever picked okra!? I had no idea the plants were so tall. Leo loved running down the rows of okra and corn.
Ready to water or soak anyone that comes near him.
We picked tomatoes, green beans, purple beans and okra.
10 // Leo
I looked back at Leo to see this in the van - backwards hat, trucks nearby, darkest chocolate brown eyes, dancing to the kid's playlist and just looking so grown up. Two year olds are two cute!
11 // Kid Work
I have a bulletin board for each of the older kids. They can display anything they want on it. I love seeing the mix of hard work and art work that lands here. They put school work that they are proud of up there as well as their latest art projects. It's right by our mudroom and we see their work often.
12 // At Home Date Nights
Kevin likes to stop by DQ and get us blizzards for an at home date night. We had one this week. We both got Oreo and watched football together while the kids slept. Perfect!
Yay for a great week and great things happening. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'll see you back here on Monday!
Linking up with Momfessionals
We have a new Dairy Queen right down the road, and it is so fun to get a treat. Hope you have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great week! I love at home dates :-) I have already cried lots of tears over Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II's passing to eternal life. I really admired her life of service to her countrymen.
