Game Day at Notre Dame

Highlights from our weekend at Notre Dame:
Kyle picked us up at the airport in Indy Friday night.  He took us to a pub for dinner in Broad Ripple.  We strolled around the canal and people watched.
We drove to Notre Dame the morning of the game and we got to hear the band play before the game.  This man in the white t-shirt was dancing up one heck of an Irish jig!  I think his family was embarrassed but we were entertained.
Posing for pics shortly after getting on campus by the Basilica.
Close up... made my golden mum earrings :)
The game going crew.  The boys + me
We lined up to watch the band go through.
It was in the 90s so we felt sorry for them!
cool view from up top
The stadium was packed!!  Our seats were up top in the north east corner.  We had a great view of the field.
Surprise fly by while the American flag was being raised... "O'er the land of the free and the hooooommmme of the braaaaaaaave" cue fighter jets!  We were pretty excited.
Patriotic, goose bump inducing situation for sure! :)

Cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame!
Skies were looking good.  Game time weather report: 93 degrees but felt like 97... wowza!
Hmmm... those clouds don't look so good...
oh and we just got intercepted...
Holy rain drops!  Time to lose the sunglasses and put on the hat! Game suspended for the first time.
Making the most of our time hiding out on the concourse.
Had to hide out for 1.5 hours while the lighting, wind and rain came through.
The game was back on even though the skies didn't look great.
Looks sunny here but the lights were just extra bright.  Maybe the team can turn it around in the 2nd half!
We were smiling but sad on the inside :(
We left when they started the 2nd game suspension with only a few minutes left in the game.  Too bad we got caught in a torrential down pour while walking back to the car.  Picture raining so hard you can't see, running as fast as you can across campus, nowhere to get out of the rain, dripping from head to toe... hilarious by this point in the evening.  We sat on our ponchos (which we decided we didn't need and left in the car!) in the car so as not to ruin the seats.  We went to Texas Roadhouse for a yummy dinner.
48 hours later we are flying back across middle America!
These two guys were extra glad to see us :)
