Happy 40th to Me!

Happy 40th Birthday to me!  I couldn't be happier to be happy, healthy and busy at 40.  I don't know where the time has gone.  It feels like I just turned 21 and somehow here we are 20 years later.  Life is zooming by and I'm doing my best to make the most of my years.

I've set 4 goals for myself in my 40th year.  We're facing another big move, big transitions and big changes in our house next month so I'm gearing up for with optimism.  Think of it as my 40 pep talk to myself :)

1 // Get connected.

Find a community of friends, neighbors and family in our new city.  We're changing everything so I'm eager to get the kids settled in their new school.  Kevin's got all new coworkers and a brand new challenging job so we're excited for all the new connections we can make.  We're also moving to a new subdivision and eager to make some friends on our street.  We'll be on the hunt for a new church and activities for the kids to enjoy as well.

2 // Self Care

I have been working hard to make the doctor appointments for myself, keep up with well checks, keep an eye on things that are bothering me and exercise regularly for the past year or two.  I don't want to let any of that go this year.  I'm planning to focus on eating well, exercising often and I'd love to get a little more sleep at night.  Problems of a night owl :)  I'm going to work on getting us all plugged in with new doctors and providers so we'll have what we need.

3 // Fringe Hours

Life feels busy, but I know I'll be happiest if I'm making the best use of all the little bits of time in my day to do things that I love.  I really enjoy decorating and collecting things I love for our home.  Moving into a new home with a different floor plan and different spaces will be a good challenge for me.  I love to bake and have really really enjoyed my bakery - Jordan Bakery Box.  I'm going to work hard to rebuild and reestablish it in a new zip code.  I also love to blog, share my favorite things/family/fun on social media and explore new places.  I know that our new city will feel like home faster if we can find new favorite things there.

4 // Say Yes

It's hard to be the new girl.

I've done it before.  This will be the 5th time in the 5th different city so I know the drill BUT it's still hard.  I LOVE having good friends scattered all over the country; it's just the getting started and putting yourself out there is a lot of work.

I'm going to be outgoing, brave and adventurous in the hopes of building relationships that will last.  I want to find a group of moms to do things with during the day.  I would love to find a daytime Bible study for Leo and I to attend while the big kids are at school and I would love to be the friendly/welcoming neighbor on our street.  I love knowing our neighbors now and know that kind of community will be good for all of us.

I've got some big goals for 40!!  THANK YOU for being here to cheer me on and be interested in what we are up to in the coming year.

  4. What a great day for a 40th Birthday! Sunshine and blue skies!
Your upcoming move will be made easier by your knowing the territory, a shorter distance, and so many family and friends nearby to help.
    Have a great day, Whitney!!

  5. I remember my 40th like it was yesterday, it's been 12 years. We were in Mackinaw Island, MI and just found out I was pregnant. We were so excited. OMG time sure does fly by. I wish I was going to be your new neighbor, we'd have so much fun together. Would love to do a bible study too. We've been trying out new churches since we moved here and finally settled on one. Joey's going to be "Joseph" in the Christmas Pageant on Christmas Eve. My mamas heart is so happy.
I hope you have the best 40th birthday girl, you sure don't look it.....:)
    Happy Birthday!!!
    Be Blessed,
    Jodi
