Almost Christmas Weekending

We had a great weekend.  We packed in several fun Christmas things and enjoyed a lot of time hanging out at home.  It was the perfect way to kick off the Christmas week.

We had Christmas tree pancakes for breakfast:

We ran a few last minute Christmas errands and saw Santa out and about two different times.  Olive was thrilled.  He was collecting carts at Sams.  She yelled SANTA across the parking lot and thankfully Santa stopped to wave at her.  Totally made her day.  Then we ran into him when we were grocery shopping.  She was pretty excited and then got a candy cane for the road.  Santa is pretty much the best thing ever in her eyes.

Kevin is officially on Christmas break and he came home with a GIANT chocolate Santa for Olive to celebrate.  She was just as pleased as you'd imagine.

We snuggled and watched Christmas movies.  My lap is getting a bit crowded with a 24 week baby bump, but we're managing just fine.

We did some Christmas manis & pedis.

We wrapped up the weekend by doing our little family Christmas.  We always celebrate early so that we can enjoy the special time together and not have to miss out on Christmas since we're traveling.  We got Olive a play kitchen this year and it took almost 4 hours to put together.  It came with roughly a million pieces to put together and was far worse than an IKEA project we've ever tackled.  Kevin did it alone while I wrapped gifts and entertained Olive.  It was quite a task, but it turned out darling.  So we deem it all worth the effort.  Olive adores it and has played with it nonstop.

The following pictures could all be titled, "I helpin Daddy!"

Ta Da!!  Isn't it cute?!?!
If your kiddo is also getting this Kid Craft kitchen this year,
don't wait until Christmas Eve to start assembling!!

We picked out salmon treats for the cats for Christmas.

We opened the rest of our gifts, ate take out and had a great weekend.
Olive helped us each open our gifts and was very thorough in removing every bit of tape & paper from the gift.

I was thrilled to finish all of our wrapping with 6 days to spare as this has never, ever happened.  It was nearly impossible to explain in toddler terms that this stack of gifts were for family & friends and not for her to open.  She was on an opening roll so this was the silliest of ideas to her.

Hope you had a great weekend and are excited for a fun week ahead!!

  1. Poor Kevin having to put that kitchen together. Last year I waited until Jack was asleep to put his mini trampoline together. Big mistake! I had to wake my dad up to help me. This year, my dad is having to put together a swing set. They are on day three. My brother in law is helping him and they are knee deep in pieces and tools.
It looks like Olive is really enjoying her kitchen. It sounds like y'all had a fun family weekend. Merry Christmas!

  5. Oh goodness bake that man some cookies or something. Those "little" projects are a chore. We have put together 2 kitchens, 2 doll houses and a barbie house and all have been equally special.

    LOVE that Christmas tree pancake!

  8. What a fun weekend! I love Olive and that giant chocolate Santa. Olivia would have been in heaven. And I can't believe that took 4 hours - makes me love that ours was a hand me down and already put together. Olivia loves her play kitchen so I know Olive does too!
