Good Reads

I love sharing some of my favorite bloggers, writers and friends with you every so often.  I collect a virtual stash of favorite posts until they add up to enough to share with you.  I hope you enjoy them and find some new people to follow.

I loved reading this article yesterday on Chip and Joanna Gaines.  Who doesn't love this duo??  She was interviewed about upgrading her original wedding ring now that they've become so famous and I LOVED her response.  What do you think - would you upgrade, change or switch out your original wedding ring if you could??

I adore reading about the holiday celebrations that Stephanie Nielson puts together for her family.  Her latest Halloween Feast looked like so much fun - I love the individual shots of each of her kids in costume, the edible pumpkin bowls and the memories they're making.

I'm planning to do this Paper Plate Yarn Weaving Turkey craft sometime this month.

Are you fans of the Barefoot Contessa??  I love that she always has a big smile on her face, loves entertaining with gorgeous flowers and food, and is always so sweet with her hubby on the show.  I really enjoyed this article 10 Things You Didn't Know About Ina Garten's Husband Jeffery.  I think #1, #5 and #7 are my favorite things.

I've never considered myself to be an angry person, but I do lose my temper from time to time in parenting situations.  Who doesn't!?!  I loved all the points in this How To Stop Losing Your Temper with Your Kids article and felt convicted by statements like this one:  "Be the example that would make anyone proud.  Be the parent that you want your kids to be in thirty years."

Beth is an amazing baker so I am dying to try her Pumpkin Biscuits with Honey Cinnamon Butter.  They sound amazing and really easy to whip up.  Comfort food perfection!

The Five Screw Ups that Made A Huge Difference is a really compelling read by Champagne Supernova.  It's an inspiring read that gives you five of the most valuable things you should and should not do every day.

Confession: I've never tried pimento cheese spread.  It sounds delicious and I love cheese so I'm not sure how I've avoided it for 34 years.  I pinned Magnolia & Main's recipe for Kiawah Pimento Cheese and am anxious to try it out.  Do you eat pimento cheese?  Do you make it or have a brand to recommend??

Mothering or Smothering was a great post by Denise of Refresher.  It gave me lots to think about as my kids get older and reminded me of things I appreciate as an adult.  The post is filled with tons of practical parenting ideas to raise independent children.

Sweet Potato Chicken Burgers sound like something the kids and adults at my house would enjoy eating.

I loved Kate from The Small Things Blog's latest post on an idea for girls night.  She wrote all about her Skills Nights with friends where everyone teaches their friends to do something they feel like an "expert" at doing.  It made me think about what skills I would want to share with my friends.

Andrea from Momfessionals wrote a post FILLED with ideas for practicing sight words.  There are games, strategies and apps to use to help your kids master them.

This book arrived on our doorstep this week and has already become a favorite!  Read, Set, Find Christmas is the perfect Christmas book for little readers.  It has a great amount of objects to find on each page, has sweet illustrations and is a board book so it can be easily handled by little hands.  My three year old really enjoyed reading the book and I appreciated the bible verses noted throughout.  If I'm being picky, I'd say that I wish the objects to find were the same size on the list as they are in the picture, some objects are also half hidden so you can only see them peeking out from behind other things, there are often several sheep to find or several mice instead of just one and the colors are a little different from the list side to the picture side.  My toddler didn't notice any of those things, but I wanted to be sure to point them out.  We enjoyed reading this Christmas book together and will definitely be reading it many more times.
*I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review of it from BookLookBloggers.

What good things have you been reading lately??
