The Highlights

It was a fun, love filled week at our house.

We LOVED seeing the Broncos win the Super Bowl last weekend and have enjoyed all of the Peyton Manning coverage this week.  We packed in lots of Valentine's Day goodness and tried to ignore the cold/cough/sore throat we all seem to be battling.  I think Olive is trying to prepare me for having a newborn again because she's been waking up in the middle of the night all week long.  We're all due for some good sleep.  We loved having a couple of snow days and spent some extra time snuggling in our pjs this week.  On to the good stuff...

My husband surprised us by sending flowers yesterday.  He said he was expecting a package in the afternoon and asked if we'd be home to sign for it.  Turns out the package was FLOWERS!  The card said. "To my valentines."  Olive was thrilled and kept saying, "Daddy sent us flowers for love day!"  I love the mix and they are really pretty.

We made lots of yummy treats this week.  Kevin had a luncheon at work so I made pretty pretzels for it.  They were delicious and turned out really cute.  We sampled a few and gave the rest away.  Then we made Butterfinger Blizzards for a little stay at home date night dessert.  I finally found some Valentine's Day Funfetti and am hoping to whip up a batch of cupcakes this weekend.

We went home for the weekend last week and my parents hosted a super cute Valentine's Day lunch for my siblings and their families.  Everything was so cute and delicious.  My mom made fried chicken, yummy sides and her ding dong cake - it was her best yet.  Olive and I were going to share until she took her first bite.  Then she said, "No Mama.  Dis cake is just for me!"  I don't blame her :)

I got to catch up with my friend Jacque while we were home and see her new house.  It was so much fun and it's funny how things change as you get older.  We used to plan late night get togethers when I came in town and now we work around nap times and our girls.  We enjoyed time with family and were spoiled with donuts, football food and got to do a little shopping.

We made our valentines and got them sent out to friends.  I wasn't sure how much Olive would enjoy painting them so I only planned for her to do a few at a time.  Turns out she loved it and sat at the table for nearly an hour painting.  We used brushes, sponges and forks to come up with our card designs.  We even talked Kevin into painting hearts with us.

Be sure and check out my favorite posts from this week:

I hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend!!
Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day??

We're going to eat some yummy treats, relax and just enjoy spending time together.
