We had a great week at our house! Appointments, house projects, hanging out, good sleep, regular routines and enjoying playing outside in the slightly cooler weather. It feels so good to be in our new house settling in and everything feeling homey. I find myself just walking around and smiling that we are finally here. I'm anxious to meet our new neighbors. I'm hoping to bake them cookies and go say hello sometime in August. We are looking forward to seeing some family and friend this weekend and enjoying the start to August.
The highlights of our week were:

SALADS
SALADS
I've eaten some delicious salads this week! I am doing a good job of eating a big salad for lunch most days, drinking lots of water and getting more sleep.
Peach & Pecan Salad - we have tons of yummy peaches so I decided to make a peach salad. It's not something I've ever had before, but it was delicious. Peaches, pecans, parmesan on spinach leaves with raspberry vinaigrette.
Cherry Chicken Salad from Grand Traverse Pie Company. The cherry vinaigrette was amazing!! I can't wait to replicate this salad at home - grilled chicken, cucumbers, feta, parmesan, dried cherries, croutons, mixed greens and cherry vinaigrette.
Leftover salad - we had leftover fried chicken so I added it to a spinach and veggie salad. It was so good and so easy. Ken's Honey Mustard is my very favorite salad dressing.

COOK OUTS
COOK OUTS
We had two different cook outs with friends this week. It was fun to host people in our new house and the kids enjoyed having visitors. We grilled burgers both times, made yummy sides without turning on our oven and the kids helped me make our favorite Funfetti cupcakes.

HOBBY LOBBY
HOBBY LOBBY
I went on two Hobby Lobby excursions this week. One by myself with a delicious Mocha Light Frap and one with my kids. You can guess which one was more relaxing and fun :) I picked up birthday presents for friends, wreath making supplies, scoped out possible nursery art for Fletcher's room and just strolled around the store. It was lovely.

SUNFLOWERS
SUNFLOWERS
I made a sunflower wreath for my front door! Sunflowers just seem perfect for this time of year. I gathered all of the supplies at Hobby Lobby and LOVED how it turned out. I only spent $40 on it and it looks so cheerful when you drive up to our house. I talked more about it here

KID PICS
I snapped several cute sibling pics this week. Fletcher has started smiling at Olive and watching her every move. It's precious and Olive is enjoying the attention.

What a great week!! You are seriously getting SO creative with your salads!! They ALL look amazing. Any time you want to invite me over for lunch is fine with me! HA! So glad you are continuing to settle into your new rhythm at your new home! We don't have any big plans for the weekend...but we are SUPER excited the Olympics are starting!! :)
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought to put peaches on a salad either but that looks so good. I love the way you think outside of the box and really mix your salads up so they don't get too boring. Hobby Lobby had some SUPER cute little guy stuff. I bet the hardest time you have is picking a direction to go :).
ReplyDeleteYour salads, again! So great! I'm thinking mason jar salads might be good for me for school! So fun to host cook outs! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, your salads! I never think about those amazing combos. Jealous! I could go broke and spend hours in Hobby Lobby. I always want to pick up a new hobby when I'm in there. Glad y'all got to have guests. You are amazing, being able to host so soon after moving. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have a Hobby Lobby right by my office. Sometimes, my favorite relaxing lunch break is to grab a Starbucks & wander around for an hour. Sometimes I leave with something, other times just inspiration & a clear head. But either way, I love that store. And an hour is never enough. I want pretty much everything there.

All those salads look fabulous! I wouldn't have thought to put peaches in salad but it sounds delicious and just looks so pretty. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteYour kiddos are SO cute, and your salads look delicious! Have a happy weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI am still in love with your wreath. Maybe I can just convince you to make me one. I'll pay you of course and even add in a extra bit of bribery with a coffee ;)
ReplyDeleteI never regret strolling Hobby Lobby! They have such beautiful things and the music is always light and calming. Love, love, love your wreath and those cupcake liners! Where did you get those? Honey Mustard is one of my favorite salad dressings too, and you can't go wrong with Ken's brand in general. We always have a bottle of their Creamy Italian in the fridge and one on backup - it's all Paul will put on his salad! So glad you had a fun week!
