June Highlights

I can't believe it's already July!  We had a really fun June.  The weather was crazy - loads of rain, cool temps and travel.  We packed in tons of fun and really enjoyed being the bosses of our own schedules.  We loved going to Florida, Wisconsin, going strawberry picking, participating in the Member-Guest golf tournament and more!  June was a good month.  I realized this week that lots of little moments didn't make the blog so today's the day to cover all the highlights that didn't make it on the blog last month.

I'm sharing our June highlights today and then taking the rest of the week off!  I'm hoping for lots of swimming, fireworks, friends and fun for the 4th of July long weekend ahead.  I'll be back on Monday just in time to kick off Kevin's birthday week.  Hope you have a fabulous 4th!

Backyard Fun
We've spent tons of time in our shady backyard swinging, catching bugs, reading, playing and enjoying the sunshine.  I'm so thankful for a super shady yard especially during the heat of Summer.

Lemon Love
I love the way the DIY lemon topiary project turned out for my mantle.  I loved it so much that I couldn't bear to take it down to put up 4th of July decor.  Whoops!

Playgrounds
We've been meeting friends at all the different playgrounds around town.  We load up the hats, sunscreen and picnic lunches.

Trains
One of our favorite parks has a miniature train.  We decided to hop on for a little ride!  We hadn't ridding it since Christmas.  The warm ride was really nice!

Fire Station Tour
We met up with some friends for a local fire station tour.  It was really interesting and freezing!

Gardening
We updating our gardens with some new perennials!  I love this color combo.  They all look lovely in their new spots.  Now we just have to be extra diligent about watering this time of year.

Dobber Dawgs
Olive loves all kinds of art projects so I got her these Dobber Dawgs for her birthday.  We've had a lot of fun making art with them.  They wash off really easily, are fun to dot or paint with and both kids enjoyed them.

-2 Teeth
Olive lost TWO teeth in the month of June.  She was so excited.  The first one came out as a complete surprise in a cucumber she was eating for lunch.  The second one took forever to come out.  It was so loose for days and then finally came out in a peach.  The tooth fairy came twice and it was really fun.  I'll have to work on a post recapping our tooth fairy traditions.

Road Trip
We got to see my parents for a quick visit.  The kids love hanging out there!

50th Anniversary
Kevin's grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  We headed on a quick trip to celebrate with them.  It was so sweet to see how well loved they are by family and friends.  It was such a blessing to hear so many stories from people who love them.

Happy 50th!!

Sunday vibes
We celebrated our 1 year anniversary at our church!  It's exciting to be at a point where church is a familiar, regular part of our weekly routine.  The kids love it and Kevin and I have been blessed by opportunities and people we've met through church this year.  We're currently discussing our game plan for small groups in the Fall and figuring out the best ways for us to get plugged in.

Happy 4th of July!!!

  1. Such a lovely month! I always think of June as being the Friday of summer, July the Saturday and August the Sunday. I’m hoping that July goes slowlllllllyyyyyy, like a sloth 🤣

  2. June flew by way too fast for my summer lovin’ heart! Okay, I totally missed that lemon topiary DIY. I’m going to have to go back and look for it. So cute! Looks like you all are having a really great summer. The photos of the kids are adorable.
