Halloween Tour & Must Read Halloween Books

The kids were really excited to help me decorate for Halloween.  They started asking as soon as it was officially Fall.  We teamed up and got the job done.

Nothing got broken in the decorating process - it's fun having big kids!

We tried to put a little bit of Halloween all throughout the house.  Here are our favorite spots.  Stick with the tour and we finish it up with our favorite Halloween books.

Most of the decorations end up in our family room or play room, but we also tucked them into a corner by the bedrooms, with our plants and on our front door.  We even ended up with some Halloween blow up decorations.

My mantle is one of my favorite spot to decorate for the holidays.  My mom and dad helped me track down these polka-dot jack-o-lanterns from Kirklands.  I saw them online and didn't have a Kirklands near me.  They went to two different stores and found three for me.  They're so cute.  Then we have baskets filled with Halloween books on each side of the mantle.

These hand and foot print art projects are my favorite!  I can't wait to make a new one this year.

I add Halloween napkins to the kid's lunchboxes all month.  We had friends over for dinner last week.  I put together a fun Halloween theme for dinner.  The kids love eating on Halloween plates.

These are some of our favorite, newer additions to our Halloween library.  We'd highly recommend them, reread them often and love them.  I included my Amazon affiliate links for all of them below.  Thanks for supporting PDP!

1 // Laugh Out Loud Spooky Jokes for Kids - silly Halloween jokes that Olive can read independently.  She thinks they're hilarious.

2 // Goodnight Goon - silly take on a classic Goodnight Moon

3 // The Little Kitten - A super sweet Halloween story about friendship, loyalty and cats.  Lots to look at on every page and the illustrations are so sweet.

4 // That Monster on the Block - a darling story about making new friends in sometimes unexpected places.  A new spin on don't judge a book by it's cover.

5 // Go Away Big Green Monster - a really fun, interactive book

6 // Pick a Pumpkin - gorgeous illustrations and story that perfectly capture the process and sentimentality of picking out the perfect pumpkin

7 // Boo! Our very favorite author Leslie Patricelli - board book - and sweet Halloween story

  1. I love all the fun Halloween touches around the house. It's so good to have a stack or basket of seasonal books to read aloud.
