The Highlights

Happy Friday!!  I hope you had a great week.  We had a good one.  We got to see friends, hang out at home and do a few fun things.  Fletcher is teething so he was a little clingy all week, Olive was excited with all of the valentine things we did and Kevin was busy at work.  I fixed a bunch of yummy meals, went to a movie, am reading a good book and we are all excited for the weekend.

The best parts of our week were:

Be My Valentine
We got the house decorated for Valentine's Day this week.  It took a little longer than I'd like, but I guess that's to be expected with the help of two kids under four.  I love decorating for holidays and our mantel is one of my favorite spots to start.  It's coming together just like I'd hoped (minus the missing candles).  Not sure where they are so I ordered some new ones.  We also baked some valentine treats, did some valentine crafting and sent three valentine care packages.

Hidden Figures
A friend invited me to see Hidden Figures for a little mom's night out and it was so much fun!  We had a wonderful time and I enjoyed going to the movies in the theater.  The last time I saw a movie in the theater was four years ago when I was pregnant with Olive!  Yikes!  Back to the movie... it was WONDERFUL, inspiring, sweet, compelling and I found myself cheering for those wonderfully smart women at NASA.  I've never been super interested in NASA, but found this movie fascinating.  I loved the personalities, them showcasing smart women and their wardrobes were amazing.  If you haven't seen it yet, I'd HIGHLY recommend watching it.

Stripey Taco Salad
I made this delicious salad for dinner this week and my family loved it.  We used salsa for dressing and ate a few chips on the side.  I bought enough ingredients so that we could have it for dinner twice and a few lunches.  Because if you go to all the work to make a delicious salad why not eat it several times??  Come back Monday for a Recipe Round up with all of my best recipes from the month of January.  It was a delicious one at my house!!

Grace, Not Perfection
I'm about halfway through this great book that I got for Christmas.  I'm really enjoying it and loving hearing more about the author.  I have followed and admired her on social media for a long time, so it's nice to get to hear more of her story.  She's inspiring, real and the book is helping me focus on the people who matter most in my life.  Tune back in next Wednesday for my What We're Reading Wednesday post to see all of the great things we've been reading this month.

Favorite Kid Pics
Fletcher is on the move.  He loves walking along the windows and furniture.  He's getting so big, being so sweet and sprouting all kinds of blonde hair.  He's almost ten months old.
Olive says the funniest things.  She's loving watching movies these days and Frozen, Mulan, The Incredibles and Charlie in the Chocolate Factory are her favorites.  Three and a half is such a cute age.  Here she was telling me, "Don't worry, mom.  He likes it when I tackle him."

  2. Your decorations are adorable!! I don't have much for valentine's day, so I'm just doing my wreath on the door and a few little things. Olive cracks me up. I'm not sure Fletcher really likes being tackled. Ha ha!

  3. Do you remember where you purchased the garland for your Valentine's Day decorations? I was thinking Target might have something like that?

  11. I love your Valentine's mantle! The hot pink pom poms with your gold accented tassels have to be my favorite part. So pretty! I'm glad to know Hidden Figures is a good movie, it definitely piqued my interest but I always have bad luck with choosing movies. I will put that on my to-watch list! Have a lovely weekend!

  12. Your mantel is darling and your kiddos are so cute! I need to read that book Grace Not Perfection. I admire Emily Ley on social media as well...she just seems so friendly and sweet! I agree on the salads front I cut a bunch of lettuce and boiled a bunch of eggs so I could enjoy salads all week for lunch and a dinner. IT helps to have it prepped ahead! Have a great weekend. xoxo ERIN
