Ham & Cheese Pinwheels

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a great weekend.  Ours was chilly, but good :)

I mentioned in my December Recipe Club post that I was hoping to try a new recipe for Ham & Cheese Party Rolls in January.  I bought all the ingredients and put it on the menu.  I try to avoid cold lunch meat during pregnancy as a suggested precaution so this recipe was perfect since it baked the lunch meat.

I made a few changes to the original recipe so here's my version:

1 can pizza dough
1 pkg smoked ham lunch meat
1 bag of swiss cheese
spicy mustard

Unroll the dough and generously spread the spicy mustard over the whole surface.
Top with ham & cheese - I used shredded swiss because I couldn't find slices of swiss.
Roll up the dough just like you would for cinnamon rolls.
Cut dough into even slices with a sharp knife so it will slice through the meat.
Place in a greased baking pan.

Bake as directed on the pizza crust tube.
I baked mine at 400 for 12-15 minutes until the cheese was melted and bubbly.
Serve immediately.

We had our pinwheels for dinner with sides of a giant salad and strawberries.
We also used a little spicy mustard for dipping sauce as we ate ours.
Bonus: These reheat really well.  I ate them for lunch two different times after we had them for dinner and they were great.

I think you could switch up the ingredients and easily end up with several varieties of delicious pinwheels.  I'd like to try ham & sharp cheddar, turkey and pepper jack and pepper turkey with sharp cheddar with mayo, mustard, honey mustard or bbq sauce.  We've long been fans of the Pepperoni Pinwheels that I posted about a few years ago.  These would be perfect appetizers for any game day or family dinner because they're easy to make and easy to eat.

Have you made any delicious dinners lately??

  1. This looks seriously delicious! I'm going to add it to a game day menu for sure :-) by the way, I have been enjoying your chicken salad recipe several times a week, lately making lettuce wraps with it. So delicious! Thank you for the great recipe.

  2. These look delicious. Did you have any left that you heated up later? I was wondering how they microwaved as I'm looking for things I can bring for lunch.

  6. yum! I've only made this type of pinwheel with the solid crescent roll sheet, I"ll have to try with the pizza roll, will probably hold better! And my mustard hating hubs kills my dreams of smothering this cheesy goodness with spicy mustard (sigh) but looks delicious!
