Snow Ice Cream

We got about 6 inches of snow at our house this past week and we've had the best time playing in it.  My 4 year old loved it right away and my 1 year old took some convincing.  Once we got him bundled up enough, he realized how much fun it could be.

I came across a recipe for Easy Snow Ice Cream from Skip to My Lou and knew we had to try it.  It was delicious and easy!  I have never made snow ice cream for my family so I was excited.  My kids were THRILLED at the idea and eager to help.  I know lots of you have gotten snow or are getting snow this week so be sure to put this recipe on your to do list.

Here's my version of Snow Ice Cream:
6 c fresh snow
1 t vanilla
1/4 c whole milk
1/2 c powdered sugar
toppings: sprinkles/chocolate syrup/brownies

Put the snow in your mixer.  Add in the other ingredients and mix together.  You may need some additional milk to get it to your desired consistency.  Add milk in 1 T at a time.

This ice cream is best when you eat it right away.  It freezes really hard if you make it and then put it in the freezer to refreeze.  It still tastes delicious, but is hard to scoop after several hours in the freezer.

The best part about this recipe is that it is SO KID FRIENDLY!!  We had the best time eating it and I've always got these ingredients in my pantry.  Perfect snow day recipe!

Collect your snow before you start playing so ensure you get the cleanest snow.

Premeasure out your ingredients so your kids can just dump them into the mixer.

My kids had the best time scooping snow into the mixer and pouring in the ingredients.

Mix and added in a few extra tablespoons of milk to get this consistency:

Here's Fletcher's photo review of the ice cream:
I found him licking his bowl!!  haha it was tasty!

  2. I have wanted to make this for years, but we haven't had enough snow! Maybe we should go outside and grab some snow, before it melts, so we can whip some up!

  3. Virginia snow cream demands sweetened condensed milk. Everyone grabs a can when snow is in the forecast haha. I can take it or leave it (and never make it myself) but that’s my lack of sweet tooth talking. Maybe if snow cheese/queso were a thing...?? : )

  4. I remember having snow ice cream when I was growing up in Indiana, but not since then. I love the addition of sprinkles - so festive! :)
