Highlights & Fall Goals

Hey friends!  I hope you've had a nice week.  We've kept busy will all of the end of summer things and trying to soak in our last days before school starts for Olive next week!!  I can't believe it.  We're looking forward to fall and working to balance out our calendar with work, family fun and activities with friends.

My September Goals:
1. Print and hang some pictures - for my walls, maybe give chatbooks a try and update my frames.
2. Organize our toys and kid books better
3. Road trip to somewhere fun
4. Backyard Bonfires // make smores
5. Buy mums & do some yardwork
6. Invite some friends over to play or for dinner
7. Keep visiting churches
8. Try a couple of new game day recipes for all of the football watching
9, Exercise most days of the month
10. Get a haircut / Find a local stylist

The best parts of our week were:

1. Back to School Burgers
We invited Kevin's students over for burgers to kick off a new school year.  We all had a great time and enjoyed visiting.  It's fun to get to know his students better and I think they appreciated a home cooked meal.  My theme was ISU blue and white.  They're already talking about us hosting a tailgate party for a football game this year!  Yes, please.

I made brownies + banana pudding.  Both were a hit.  Stay tuned for this recipe next week!

2. Mom's Night Out
I met up with some mom friends for dinner and drinks.  I knew a couple of the moms and met lots of new ones.  Then we went for a sunset boat ride!  It was so much fun!!  I'm not ready for Summer to end.  Anyone else feel that way??

3.  Fern's out.  Aloe's in.
I love ferns, but I just can't seem to keep them alive.  So I saw this big display of aloe plants at Meijer last week (They're on sale this week) and decided to give it a try.  I've been able to keep my succulents in my kitchen window garden alive for months so I figured I'd have better luck with this aloe.  I put it in a sunny spot and am crossing my fingers I don't kill it.

4. 24hr Color Tattoo Eye Shadow
You've got to get some.  It's $6 and comes in such pretty colors.  It's a cream that lasts all day long.  It's got the prettiest shimmer and a little goes a long way.  It'll take me forever to get through this pot.

 5. PLAY
We went to a pool party, swam at the country club, went to our Duplo class and played with friends this week.  It's fun to be getting back into our routines of fun things.  We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom at this class and the kids spent their time building Duplo letters.  It was really fun.
Kevin's back to school faculty party was a pool party this year!
Theses two love all things dinosaur these days.  I adore this Cat and Jack dress for Olive and Fletcher roars like a dinosaur all day long.

  5. I think I may finally grab some of that shadow at the store today. My go to basic color is nearly out so I need something new anyways. That banana pudding looks SO good friend. I think I audibly heard my stomach growl. Ferns are really tricky. They like a lot of shade and they love to be soaked. Although, I'll admit mine are dead. After the house sold I lost motivation to keep things looking picture perfect, ooopppsss!!!

  6. Awesome goals. Since my spring flowers died in the heat, I've been ready for my fall mums! I'm trying to figure out how I want to decorate my porch & am ready to get my fall décor out! Maybe if you tailgate at an ISU game, you'll run into my sister. This is her last year to be a Sycamore!

  7. Love your fall goals! We are visiting churches again too, and it's something you have to just make yourself do. Hopefully you all will find a good one soon! Love your pics from your ISU party - everything looks so fun, festive and delicious! I can only imagine your banana pudding and brownies were a big hit - those are definite crowd pleasers. :) I love Olive with a bob, but her top knot is just too cute!!!
