Happy Friday! Hope you've had a good week full of things to keep us busy - errands, swimming lessons, home repairs, plumbers, home warranties, CPR training, phone calls and appointments.
Here are the best parts:

SWEET HUSBAND
I planned a fun evening for Kevin last week. He's been super busy wrapping up his semester so I was glad to come up with several fun things for us to do. We did his favorite things, picked up his favorite food and I make him some Cinnamon Roll Monkey bread for dessert. He appreciated the extra attention :)
Kevin works really hard and is so sweet to make time to meet up with us during his days. We're headed off to swimming lessons here and Olive had lots to talk about with him. Fletcher has started smothering Kev with hugs, kisses, smiles and yells DA DA DA DA when Kevin is near. It's super sweet!
He's also been bringing home some really yummy treats to share with us from all of his awards ceremonies, banquets and graduation related events. These brownies were delish.

AROUND THE HOUSE
We have had a busy week of yard work, scheduling some home repairs and making plans to do some landscaping. It's so dreamy to walk through these nurseries and scope out the plant selections. We're hoping to do some shrubs, plant some pots and pick up so many sticks/branches after storms on Thursday. Have you planted your Spring flowers yet?
Olive prefers to scope out the bunnies :)

MEXICAN PASTA SALAD
I made up a new recipe this week and it was SO GOOD! I love how colorful it was and it was delicious. We ate it all week long and it was perfect. Can't wait to share the recipe with you next week. Have you tried this dressing??? It's quickly becoming a pantry staple at my house.
On to other delicious food news, have you had the chicken minis from Chick-Fil-A?? They're SO GOOD and definitely are a great way to start out your day.

EGG WATCH
Some cute mama bird worked really hard to build her nest on my front door this year. It's our first Spring living in our house so it was a fun surprise. We've been carefully watching the nest and have been shocked to see what's going on in there. First there was just one egg and then there were THREE. A surprise speckled egg showed up with the blue eggs and we learned about the ways of the cowbird. It's been really exciting to check on the nest. Head over to instagram (@polkadottyplace) to see how many eggs the nest has right now.

DAY AT THE RACES
Our science class was all about racing this week in preparation for the big Indy 500 that's at the end of the month. The big race is actually on Olive's birthday this year so it was fun to do all these car activities. BOTH kids loved them.
I want to wish you a very happy Mother's Day weekend!! I'm going to celebrate with my mom for dinner tonight. Then I am hoping for lots of family time and to squeeze in a nap for my Mother's Day weekend :)

How sweet of Kevin to bring home desserts from his work events! Paul used to work security for fancy weddings, and I loved all the treats he'd bring home for me to try. Every year I **want** to buy flowers for my front porch steps but I never know what to buy...I wish you could come shopping at Lowes with me! :) Chicken Minis are my favorite breakfast item from CFA - they are SO good! My dad picked brought me an order of those the morning I graduated from college and I always think about that when I eat them.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day! <3

You guys do such a good job at fostering a healthy marriage. It makes me so happy. I can't wait to see that recipe girl. It sounds SO good and right up my alley. I'll have to grab some dressing in the mean time.
ReplyDeleteYour love of sweet treats is next to none. Maybe mine. How I miss treats!
ReplyDeleteLove the race car theme day! I still haven't got my flowers yet. I babysat last minute last Saturday and when they left, I was worn out! I only had them for 2 hours. LOL It is a goal to get them this weekend. I have Friday off!
