Weekly Wrap Up

It was a nice week at our house.  We enjoyed a three day weekend, we got SNOW again, played with friends and did a little house hunting.  I had a 28 week baby check up yesterday.  Baby is looking great and my blood pressure is high.  Time to start monitoring things a little closer for the next 10 weeks.  We have no big plans for our weekend so you'll find us relaxing, watching the NFL playoffs and eating some delicious game day foods.  Go Broncos!!

The best parts of our week were:

 1. We got a good 4 inches of snow this week!  The temp was in the mid-20s so it was really fun to play outside.  Olive had the best time and I loved watching her play in the snow.  She had zero interest in making snow angels and hated being pulled around in her sled.  However, she LOVED rolling down the hill in the snow, throwing snow, tasting snow, being outside and shoveling snow.  It's so fun to be back in the Midwest this winter so we can really experience winter.

2. I pulled out my Valentine's Day decorations a little earlier than usual because my house felt a little too bare after Christmas.  I'm loving the pink and red pops of happiness scattered around.  I have plans to add some cute crafts and DIY projects to our decoration in the coming weeks.  I combined my winter chalkboard ideas with Valentine's Day so that I could leave them up for two months.  Slacker move or brilliant move??  You decide :)

I look forward to pulling out our prom picture from senior year way back in 2000 every year with my Valentine's Day decorations.  I cannot believe that was 16 years ago.  Time sure flies when you marry your best friend.

I also treasure this LOVE canvas I made with Olive for her 1st Valentine's Day.  I can't believe how tiny her little feet were.  I've got a feeling that this will always be one of my favorite decorations.

 3. I have no interest in swimsuit shopping for myself at 28 weeks pregnant, but I could not pass up this ADORABLE toddler swim suit at Target!!  It was $14 and it'll be perfect for summer.  I LOVE the floral pattern, the ruffle, the long sleeves for sun protection, the price and the fact that it's two piece yet Olive will be completely covered.  I've not seen anything like it so I knew it had to come home with me.

4. I've been cooking a lot lately!  I made a real effort to try new recipes and dig out old favorites.  This Quesadilla Explosion Salad (a knock off from Chili's) was AMAZING!!  Check back on Monday for a full Recipe Round Up of my best meals from January.  I'll be joining Whitney at Come Home for Comfort and Katie at Cup of Tea to share our favorites with you.

5. Olive got the cutest KidKraft art easel for Christmas and we just got around to assembling it this week.  By we I mean my husband :)  I mostly supervised.  It's got a shelf for her art supplies, chalkboard on one side, giant roll of paper on the top and then the other side is great for coloring or painting.  The height can be adjusted and she's played with it nonstop.  She asked me to do art with her and then didn't appreciate my suggestion of writing letters and numbers.  She gave me this sassy look and said, "I da teacher mama!"

So glad y'all have had some snow - Olive is just the cutest playing in it! Finally, you had me laughing out loud at Olive telling you "she's da teacher." :D Ahh, kids! So funny! 4. I'll be thinking about you in these next 10 weeks, girl! I had very high blood pressure with my first pregnancy, and it hit at the same time. 28 weeks. I know it can be discouraging and a bit scary and frustrating... take good care of yourself!!! You look amazing!!!

  7. I love your restaurant copycat recipes - can't wait to see what you share on Monday! That prom picture of you and Kevin is precious. It's so special that you've spent so much of your lives together. You look so pretty in the picture of you and Olive in the snow...and then Olive has that furtive glance like she's over the picture and ready to play. So cute! Have a great weekend!

  8. Loving the pictures of Olive in the snow! I love living in a place that has all the seasons. I could not imagine living in a climate that was all year round high temps.

  9. Your Valentine's Day decor is so cute and fun! I wish I could say you've inspired me to do a little, but the motivation to go in the attic to drag out vday decor just isn't in me (and it's even less in me to try to talk husband into digging around to find it, even though I know exactly where it is haha). Love the prom pic and Olive's baby prints- special touches for sure! We're just finishing up our "big" snow weekend here and while it was loads of fun- bring on the swimsuit weather! We ended up with lots of uv protective rash guard style suits for L last summer, as her tender little arms would turn pink in a hot second. and yes to the two piece style for easy toddler dressing and diapers! hah!

  11. Olive in the snow is the cutest!! We got mostly ice - and Olivia was sad she couldn't make an Olaf :) - I love all of your valentines day decorations. And I saw that swim suit at Target and almost got it! I can't figure out if Olivia will be a 2T or 3T this summer - but I'm thinking now that with a two piece, that skinny little thing will be fine in a 2T - its just length I would worry about.
