Bath Houses at Hot Springs

While we were in Hot Springs,
we had to stroll along the Grand Promenade to see the bath houses.
I never realized that Hot Springs was quite the tourist attraction,
health spa, healing mecca in its hay day of the early 1900s.

We toured each of the bath houses.

We toured the Fordyce Bath House and enjoyed stepping back in time.
We watched a video, learned more about the town
and then Olive woke up for the tour.
Everything was so fancy and it was fun to picture what it would have been like
to go to the spas back in their prime.

Beautiful stained glass.
 Lots to see :)
These steamer compartments seemed less than spa like to me.
I was in tile heaven admiring all of the tile work.

Each bath house had its own, unique architecture.

You could bottle water from the fountains to take home with you :)

We strolled around downtown and admired the buildings/store fronts.
Rock walls in the middle of town were the norm.

We made a pit stop in this little water shop to try some fresh spring water.

We enjoyed our day and did not have any Bill Clinton sightings.

The weather was dreamy
and Olive was dreamier.

  2. It has probably been 20 years since I visited one of the bath houses - but I remember it well!
