Jordan Bakery Box

I'm excited to tell you some behind the scenes details of Jordan Bakery Box today.

I had been feeling the urge to bake and sell for a while.  

I envisioned selling cookies and bread right away.  As you know, I build charcuterie boards for my family all the time.  Some friends would tell me that they'd love to buy boards from me for their families for holidays.  I got to thinking of ways I could build boxes for other families.  I ironed out the logistics on the treadmill most days :) and with the help of family and friends.  I ended up launching JBB with charcuterie boxes!

Coming up with a name was hard.  I'd find things I like and then go to see if they were available on Facebook and Instagram.  That sent me back to the drawing board several times.  I started dreaming of Jordan Bakery Box - everything I sell in a pretty box wrapped with a bow and it just fit.  

I designed my logo - polka dots are true to my brand, three rings around my logo for my 3 kids, 1 ring for Kevin, fonts that felt like me and everything black and white.  I ordered pie boxes, ribbon and logo stickers in bulk.  It was a risk and I'm working hard to make my little bakery dream come true.

Kevin and the kids are super proud.  They love knowing their friends or teachers or neighbors are buying boxes from me.  Olive labeled boxes for her friends and Fletcher wrote hi to his friends on their boxes.  Olive is getting great reviews from teachers at school.  Fletcher promotes for me at school and tells people to find me on Facebook and the big kids help take care of Leo when it's box building crunch time.  Kevin is all hands on deck helping me wrangle kids if I need to shop or chop.  It's a whole team effort.

I started by selling a few St Patrick's Day boxes to friends.  I sold 4 and learned a ton by assembling those boxes for the first time.

I worked out some of the kinks, bought a bigger cooler and then offered Easter boxes across all my social media channels.  I got a great response and sold 18 boxes.  Kevin surprised me and bought us a mini fridge to help store all the boxes and supplies.  I really appreciated him believing in me.

I'm currently selling Hello Spring charcuterie boxes this week.  Orders get picked up on Friday/Saturday by local friends and neighbors and new friends as word gets out.  My plan is to offer boxes to buy 1-2 times a month.

I am so happy to have a job that I can do from home, with my kids around.  I can prep things at night.  Shop for inventory with Leo and build my business around my day to day mom routine.  It's been really rewarding and really exciting.

Friday Favorites: Leo Edition

We were so excited to spend our week celebrating Leo turning ONE!  

The year has flown by and been so strange in so many ways.  It's been a weird one, but we had so many things to be thankful for.  Leo slept in on his birthday.  I got the big kids off to school and then we headed outside to take a few birthday pictures.

He looked so handsome and grown up now.

Olive told me the other day, "I'm sorry Mom, but I just cannot say no to that face!"  I understand.

Leo loves french fries.  After we ran a few errands I swung through the drive thru at Culvers for his first kids meal - cheeseburger, fries and I added some strawberries.  HE LOVED IT!

He got a couple of bigger toys - a slide for inside.  He also loved that.

I told Olive and Fletcher that it was their job to make Leo's birthday s fun as possible for him.  They played with him, tickled him and had a fun day together.

Kitty snuggles.  It's really sweet to see Leo learning how to be a cat guy.  He's also climbing everything - onto tables, into the window seat, up on furniture, etc.  He's a busy boy.

He opened gifts after school with Olive and Fletcher.  He wasn't really into opening much after the first rip or two.  Good thing he's got great helpers.

Then everyone played with his new toys.

I set an alarm to snap a picture of him at 4:33pm the exact time he was born a year ago :)  I felt sentimental about my baby being one all day long!  I just can't believe it.

I made a Funfetti cake for him.  He got his own mini cake and they I did a layered cake for us.  My favorite combo is a boxed cake mix with homemade frosting.  I love how his jungle cake turned out.  I'm not a big icing fan.  This naked style of icing a cake is perfect for me.  Add some sprinkles and jungle animals and it was perfect.

It's good to be sooooooo loved.

And now a few other non-birthday highlights...

I added some new kid art to our playroom art wall.  The kids love seeing their art on display.  Lots of these things were made at school.  They bring them home and I add the favorites to our wall.  I'm not sure that they will be things that I save forever, but we will enjoy them and display them for a while.

We met some friends at the park.  The boys loved this double swing.  And now that Leo is walking a bit he was able to explore on his own a bit.

The cats got lots of attention!  Penny LOVES Fletcher.  I was working at my desk and looked up to see this.  Penny & Fletcher snuggling.  It's so sweet.  It makes me smile every time Fletcher talks about how he's a cat guy.

Happy Birthday, Dad!  We get to celebrate Leo's birthday with family this weekend, celebrate my dad's birthday, Olive has basketball games and get a couple things done around the house.  It should be a fun family weekend.  I hope you have a great weekend, too.  Do you have any fun plans?

Happy Birthday Leo!!

You are cruising through your baby milestones and seem to be less and less of a baby every day.  

Olive often remarks that she wishes you could stay little forever.  

We all agree.  You are our favorite baby.

It seems like just yesterday we were nervously heading to the hospital on your birthday.  

Your delivery and hospital stay were filled with so many firsts for us - Covid, C-Section, no visitors allowed and so many extra restrictions in place.  We had no idea then that we'd get to spend so much time together as a family of 5 in the coming year.  None of our babies got as much quality family time and sibling snuggles as you.

Mom LOVES Leo:

You'll always be the biggest, best surprise of my life.  God just knew our family needed you to complete it.  You have the biggest brown eyes and I think you're going to have brown hair.  You're sweet, snuggly, busy, good at climbing, happy to go along with anything we're doing and you love mom the most.

You love your nigh-night (blanket) and ba ba (bottle).  You love to swing, dump everything out of every drawer, play with toys, eat snacks and you love the water.  Bath time is always the highlight of your day.  You can wave, stick out your tongue on command and say Mama, Dada, No, ba-ba  for bottle and seem to be working on lots of new sounds.

Dad LOVES Leo:

"He's so rascally.  He gets into everything!  He makes all kinds of funny sounds and words.  He also has lots of cool tricks like sticking out his tongue."  

Olive LOVES Leo: 

"I love his baby talk.  I love his sweet kitty face.  I love playing peek a boo and when he chases us.  He is my favorite baby brother."

Fletcher LOVES Leo:

"That your cheeks are so squishy!  I love playing with you, I love swinging you and going in the tree house with you.  I love to make him laugh and to snuggle him.  He's a good brother.  I love him."

Prime Purchases

Amazon really came through for me big time with two birthdays to plan, Easter, Spring Break and more this past month.  I can't wait to share my favorites with you.  I'll include my affiliate links with each item.  Thanks for supporting my blog!

1. V Tech Alphabet Magnet Toy

I picked up this VTech alphabet toy for Leo for his birthday.  Olive had one when she was his age and loved it.  I don't expect him to learn his letters just yet, but it's the perfect game for little hands.  Each letter says it's name, sound and a tune to go with it.  We've owned the yellow bus version and I snagged the red apple version on sale this month.

2. All the Ways to Be Smart

This is the cutest children's book that really is a good reminder to everyone.  There are so many ways to be smart.  So many things to be good at.  The illustrations are so sweet and filled with details.  There are fun things to talk about on every page.  It's the perfect book to read aloud to help build your child's confidence in their own set of skills.

3. Barf Bags

I know this is a gross topic, BUT THESE ARE LIFESAVERS!  If you have someone in your family that gets motion sick, you MUST get these bags.  They are in both of our vehicles and we never travel without them.  The kids can use them easily and then they seal off.  It makes throwing up in the car manageable and it keeps the person from feeling embarrassed.  They can quickly take care of themselves and then you can seal the bag for your next trash stop.  Kevin said - What did we ever do without these!?!  after our last road trip.

4. Throwback favorite: Climbing Dome

We got our kids this climbing dome about a year ago and it's a fun favorite in our back yard.  They climb on it, picnic in it and love to use their imagination playing games in their dome space ship.  The price fluctuates a ton but this $197-$199 range is the best price I've seen it.  Grab one now if you're thinking about it - they price will go up as demand goes up with Summer coming.  The quality is amazing and it assembles easily with two adults.

5. NARMAY Camo Play Tent & Tunnel

Fletcher got this for his birthday.  It's such a great size and the quality is amazing.  It is in his bedroom right now, but once the weather stays nice, he plans on playing with it in the backyard.  There is plenty of room for 3-4 kids inside to play and I'd say it would sleep 2 kids easily.  It also comes with a tunnel that is plenty big enough for kids ages 1-8 to play in.  The quality on both is outstanding.

 

6. Argan Oil

This argan oil has been really good for my hair.  It moisturizes, helps add shine and doesn't weigh my hair down.  And it's under $7!

 

7. Fisher-Price Musical Lion Walking Toy

Leo loves this lion walking toy.  It really helps steady him as he's walking all over the house.

8. Omeril Swim Goggles

Both kids needed new goggles this year.  The speedo ones we've had in the past worked okay, but I was ready to try something different.  These Omeril goggles had great reviews and you get two pairs for $10!  I'm happy to report that both kids have used and love them already.  I'm going to go ahead and pick up another pair as back ups since we're going to be swimming all summer.

9. How to Train Your Dragon 1-3 Movie Set

My sister talked us into watching this movie series and my kids love it.  They actually really love all three movies.  I bought this set to keep in the van so we could watch them on road trips.  They are all entertaining, adventurous, happy, sad, exciting and wonderful.  

10. CRZ Yoga Women's Naked Feeling High Waist Gym Workout Capris Leggings with Pockets

I've raved about these yoga pants for months and months.  I own several pair of the pants and now I've got some of the capri style in my cart in preparation for warmer weather.  I love the side pocket and the prints.  The black camo is in my cart as well as the black leopard.

Easter Weekending

I hope you had a Happy Easter!  We celebrated at home like we always do.  It's nice to have a holiday where we do not travel and get to enjoy our traditions.  We went to the Bunny Brunch at our country club, dyed eggs, made lots of yummy food at home, hunted eggs twice and ended the weekend with pie.  It's back to school and reality today.

I sold 18 Easter Charcuterie boxes!!  This was my biggest holiday yet and everyone raved about them!  I loved building boxes for friends and neighbors.  I thought the boxes turned out so cute.

Bunny Brunch //

When you realize that you've got enough teeth to chow down at the brunch this year.

 

 

Leo was very serious about meeting the Easter Bunny.  It's technically his second Easter, but there were no Easter bunnies to meet this time last year when he was just a couple days old.  He kept looking at his big eyes and feeling his fur.  He was fine until...

We had Olive and Fletcher jump in the picture.  Then he lost it.  It was adorable and sad and only lasted a few seconds.

We headed outside for the egg hunt.

The weather was a little chilly, but the sun was shining and we were happy.  It really was so nice to be back doing some of our favorite holiday traditions.  This time last year everything was cancelled, at a stand still and so many question marks surrounded everything.

A friend snapped this picture of me.  Proof that Leo forgave me for making him sit on the bunny's lap.

We came home and dyed eggs.  Our kit was a really good one this year.

I set up Easter baskets for all the kids after they went to bed - a new book, PEZ, bubbles, new pjs, stuffed bunnies, candy, bendy bunnies, etc. 

Easter Morning //

Everyone was up bright and early.  Leo also decided that this weekend he'd start walking!  He's our earliest walker and he is getting more confident in his walking every hour.  He's also getting into more and more trouble every hour.  We found him sitting on top of my desk shortly after this.

We made Resurrection rolls for breakfast.  I set everything up and the kids made them.  They were our best ones yet.  They're such a good visual of the Easter story and resurrection.

I put together a quick egg carton Easter lunch for the kids.

The Easter bunny stopped by our house.  Leo was fine getting 1-2 eggs and calling it good.  He really just wanted to shake them.

Fletcher was really competitive.

Olive was determined to find the most.

We ate loads of Easter candy, wore bunny ears and played outside.

My Easter table turned out so pretty this year.  The food was delicious, I love using my grandma's vintage dishes and the kids loved the bunny napkin rings.

I made Derby pie for the adults.  Kevin said it was my best one ever.

The kids aren't big pie fans so they had Bunny Sundaes all weekend.

I hope you had a nice Easter!  We were hoping to make it to church this year, but our church is still being super strict.  Tickets were required and it all felt very complicated.  Hopefully next year going to church on Easter will feel normal and easy again.
