Handmade for the Holidays

I look forward to making homemade gifts, ornaments and treats this time of year.

My kids love to craft so we've been working together to make some fun things.

We tackled Jingle Bell Wreath ornaments.

They were really easy to make and all of the supplies were on sale at Meijer this week.  I'm sure many craft stores have similar things on sale, too.  I just kind of made things up as we went along and it worked out great.

You'll just need
1 package of sparkly pipe cleaners
Jingle bells of all shapes and metals

Each wreath takes 5 pipe cleaners and 8-10 jingle bells.

My 4 year old loved stringing the jingle bells on the pipe cleaners.

My 1 year old loved throwing the jingle bells across the room.

You win some, you lose some.

I had her count out the jingle bells.  String them on.

Then I wrapped three more pipe cleaners around the one pipe cleaner with bells on it.

Form it into a circle and wrap the ends around each other.

Use one more pipe cleaner to tie a bow on top.

Done!

Crafting turned into wrestling while his sister was busy doing the activity.  They were both happy so it worked out fine.  He'd be happy to jump, tackle and play rough all day long.  She's thrilled to craft.

 Step 1

Step 2 Wrap extra pipe cleaners around jingle bells

Step 3 form into a circle and wrap ends around

 Step 4 Add a bow

They hang on the tree so easily and you don't have to worry about them breaking.  My kids love playing with them and finding a good spot on the tree for them.

I'm hoping to make some hand or foot print art with the kids soon so I'll be sure to share if our projects turn out cute.

What crafty things are you making this month??

We loved making these kits last year:
Christmas 2016 ornaments

We also did a footprint tree last year and I just love it!!

  2. Those are so cute! I may have to incorporate those for my nieces & nephews to do while they have to wait to open presents. I'm sure their parents would enjoy me helping them make noise makers to take home. haha. That is what aunts are for!
