The best parts of our week were:
After dinner Dairy Queen treat runs!
Scheduling an 8am haircut for myself when we were out of town is pretty typical mom life. It worked out great because I didn't miss out on anything fun and I was home in time to do some fun things. It felt good to get my hair chopped. SO much shinier and healthy looking now. Plus, my hair grows super fast so it'll grow out nicely.
I made tostadas for the first time. Hard taco shells with all the fixings :) They were so good!
A friend hosted Muffins & Mimosas for moms to celebrate one week of being back to school. It was nice to catch up with everyone and meet some new moms.
I found some cute, quirky new pj pants at Old Navy this week.
Fletcher has been adjusting just fine to life as an only kid while Olive is at kindergarten. He's talking more, loving the attention and enjoying all the one on one time.
I picked up this beautiful Blue Star Fern at Meijer last week. I don't have a great track record with ferns (I always kill them) so I'm hopeful that I can keep this one alive. It seems to like my kitchen so far.
We did some grown up appliance shopping last weekend. We were fortunate to have some old, still functioning appliances in our house when we moved in so we didn't have to buy them right away. We added a microwave, replaced the dishwasher so the fridge and stove are next. We've never purchased either before so it was kind of fun. Corralling the kids in the cart with snacks was our best idea :)
Olive is obsessed with kindergarten. She loves everything about it. With a gleam in her eye she said, Mom will you teach me how to read books WITH WORDS. Then she handed me this DVD and said, Can we watch Fer-di-Nan-D?? She was so proud to figure out what the cd said all by herself. She's growing up at warp speed.
Kevin went to a men's event at church and had a good time. I was proud of him for going because he didn't really know anyone. He was proud of himself for shooting a bullseye with a bow and arrow.
We went to the summer picnic at the country club and had a great time. The kids bounced, got their face painted, ate snow cones, swam and enjoyed some live music. We are soaking in all the summer fun until the pool closes in a couple of weeks.
Fully decked out and ready for school. We missed the bus one day this week (they randomly came 10 minutes early and we weren't prepared for that). You better believe we started heading to the bus earlier after that. Olive does not want to miss the school bus. I LOVE this dress and she loves her accessories. She also had to wear tennis shoes for gym class. She's not a socks and tennis shoes kind of girl so this felt like a big milestone.
Fletcher is getting so big! He looks like a little man. He's only 2, but wears a solid 4T. He's the sweetest... unless he's spitting, kicking or calling someone a big dumb stupid head (thanks chipmunks!)
Bun Bun got to go to school with Olive for show and tell this week. She was SO EXCITED. Bun Bun has been loved hard for 5.5 years. She's traveled all over and never left Olive's side. Olive was so happy to introduce her to her class.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE your hair friend!! You are gorgeous. Three cheers for SUPER fun adult purchases like a new refrigerator. HA! And yes. School life is EXHAUSTING. The weekends take on a whole new meaning...I cherish them so much during the school year!! Hope you have a great, easy and relaxing couple of days with your crew!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Olive is loving school! I start packing lunches for Alice for on the 27th...start the tears now!
ReplyDeleteLove your new haircut. I recently got several inches cut off too, and it feels so much healthier. It looks like Olive is just loving kindergarten. The picture of F reminds me of my son, who always used to pose with his hands in his pockets. have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSchool life is so exhausting.
ReplyDeleteLove your hair. It looks great! So glad Olive is loving Kindergarten
Your hair cut looks so good! Appliance shopping is fun, yet overwhelming when you want to buy the best at the best price. We had to buy a new stove, air conditioner (just the window size), washer/dryer and microwave. They all conked out in our first year of marriage. :) I'm so glad Olive is loving school and she wants to read. :) I hope she never loses that love of reading.
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm glad Bun Bun made it to school. Looks like y'all need this long weekend!
