Reading the Night Away

I am happy to report that I have been doing a lot of reading!  It's been fun to have a book to read during nap times or in the evenings and am hoping this is a pattern that I can get back into the habit of doing.  Reading for fun really is FUN :)

Make it Happen
by Lara Casey
I was familiar with Lara Casey before I read her book from following her on social media and keeping tabs with what she was working on.  It wasn't until I read her book that I felt like I truly got to know her and her love for the Lord.  She chronicles her life story and shares so many relateable moments with her readers.  She writes in a way that you feel like you are sitting down having a one on one conversation with a friend.  I loved hearing her stories from different phases of her life and was very motivated to start making things happen in my own life.  Her trials and successes were very real and it was amazing to see God working in her life.  It makes you stop and point out the ways that God is at work in your own life.  The books reads like a workbook and I found myself jotting down notes, answering her questions and set goals throughout.  Make It Happen is very inspiring and really makes you think about God's grace in your life, your true purpose, your prayer life and believing in things that seem impossible.
*I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review of it.

Cold Tangerines
by Shauna Niequist
I enjoyed this book and was particularly captivated by the beginning and ending chapters.  I was taking notes in the margin and really applying things to my own life.  I loved the theme of celebration throughout the book.  Celebrating everything in life - the big and the little things - and building a community of people to celebrate with.  Niequest really drives home the point that we need other people and life is better when you surround yourself with people who you can care about and will care about you return.  It was very motivating to start building community and getting involved wherever you live and stop waiting for life to happen.

I'm currently reading:
The Best Yes by Lisa Terkeurst with my Bible study
and starting The Happiest Toddler on the Block

What are you currently reading?

  1. Yay for making more time for reading! That was one of my 2015 goals, too. Definitely going to check out Make It Happen - this is the second time I've heard of this book today so I think it's a sign :) And can't wait to hear what you think about The Best Yes, I'm a huge Lysa Terkeurst fan!
