Peanut Butter Chip Cookies

I love peanut butter; I could eat it all the time.

When I stumbled across a new recipe from sheenaashlock

I knew I had to give it a try.

Here's my version:

Peanut Butter Chip Cookies

heaping 1/2 c peanut butter

1/2 c butter, softened

1/2 c granulated sugar

1/2 c brown sugar

1/2 t baking soda

1/2 t baking powder

1 egg

1/2 t vanilla

1 1/2 c flour

1 bag of peanut butter/chocolate chip mix

* I just met these chocolate chips this summer and they are delish!!

Mix butter and peanut butter in mixer.  

Add sugars, soda and baking powder.

Beat in egg and vanilla.  Add flour.  Add chips.

Preheat oven to 350.  I used my one inch cookie scoop.

They spread out a little so be sure to leave room for that.  

Bake for 9 minutes on a greased cookie sheet.

Let cool for 1 minute on cookie sheet.

Makes around 30 cookies.

This recipe was really easy and SO GOOD!

These cookies were a big hit; everyone wanted more.

Welcome to What I Wore Wednesday.
I've been documenting my outfits for the last 46 weeks!!

It's been a lot of fun.

Dear Mrs. Jordan

I figured out the perfect way to assess my student's initial writing abilities, 

find out more about them and check out their handwriting with one activity.

I asked them to write me a letter.

Dear Mrs. Jordan...

and then tell me what they were good at, what's hard for them at school, 

any goals they have for the year 

and what they are looking forward to in 3rd grade.

My students were very capable of doing this activity.

I told them they had to take at least 15 minutes on their letter.

Good way to prevent rushed, sloppy work.

Then asked them to WRITE!

Oliver and I were very interested in what these letters had to say.

 Nothing is hard for me... 

I'm very excited to be in school...

oh the confidence & enthusiasm of 9 year olds :)

This is the first time I've done this activity and I'll definitely be doing it again.
I'm saving it as my writing PRE assessment for the start of school and 

will reference it throughout the year.

I also learned a lot about my students and what is interesting to them.

Mountainy Monday

I got the pleasure of watching a storm roll in recently.

Kind of seems like a lovely painting no?

 Utah sure is a pretty place.

MORE/Less

I love to teach writing

and am always looking for new ideas.

I read a cute poem and thought my students could do well with it.

The poem had a simple format.

More ___________________ (and I added Less _______)

They had to come up with about 10 things for each category.
We wrote them one day and peer edited them the next.

The kids loved this and it was really easy for 3rd graders to do.

I'd highly recommend this writing assignment to get the ball rolling on writing.
