The past few years I stuck more with a pumpkin theme for September through November. This year I opted to not decorate until October and then stick to a Halloween theme. November will be pumpkins and turkeys and December will be Christmas at my house.
I decided to recruit some helpers... Olive & Fletcher... to help me decorate. The process definitely went faster than doing it alone and they were so proud to pick out the perfect spots for decorations.
My holiday decor has changed a bit since becoming a parent. I find myself gravitating more and more to non breakable decor. The fact that most things I buy are basically kid proof helps me decorate with much less stress. I still have fragile things, but a lot of our decorations can be handled without worry about something breaking.
I'll start the tour as if you were walking in my front door. Our Halloween decor is very sweet. Nothing spooky or scary found here. Welcome!! I painted this giant candy corn last year. It still makes me smile :)
My helpers ready to dig into the holiday bins.
Family room:
My mantel is one of my favorite spots to decorate all year long. Most of my decorations have been collected over the years. But, if something is new, I'll do my best to give you a link to it at the bottom of this post. The striped banner, plaid pumpkins and orange tassel garland were all from Target a couple years ago. Happy Halloween banner was from TJ Maxx.
It never fails that the tiny hand and foot print art we make every year is my favorite thing to decorate with year after year.
I updated the pictures in our gallery wall this Summer. I just LOVE these sunflower maze pictures.

I was SHOCKED at how INEXPENSIVE these darling decorations are. My sister got the witch and says it's even cuter in person. I'd say the same is true for the pumpkins, ghost, birds and cats. They're all even better in real life!!
Everything looks SO good friend!! So cheerful and festive and just HAPPY. Your mantel is my favorite!!🎃
ReplyDeleteI love it! Your idea to decorate for a different holiday each month is so much fun! Also, your gallery wall is so pretty with the sunflower pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so nice, Whitney! I always have my kids help too (some years they do it all!) and I agree, it’s so much easier and I usually end up loving wihat they come up with!

ReplyDeleteI usually only decorate for fall, but I am kind of wishing I had more Halloween décor! Maybe I need to buy things this year as they go on sale for next year. That candy corn is fabulous! Great job on that. All of your decorations are adorable. Also, is there anything better than holiday pajamas?
ReplyDeleteHow cute and seasonal! I especially like how you decorated the mantel.
