I think I pinned a picture of a thankful tree about three years ago and always hoped I'd get around to putting one together. It never happened until this year!! It was the perfect time - our yard was full of sticks and they were perfect for my thankful tree.
Gather sticks, nuts, pinecones and other Earthy things.
I chopped a few tiny branches off trees in my yard that still had leaves on them.
They were SO pretty that I knew they had to be incorporated into my tree!!
*warning: your cats will be very interested in the sticks.
I used a scalloped circle punch and some yellow paper to make my tree "leaves".
I put polka-dots on mine, left Kevin's blank and put a tiny O on Olives. I wrote out things for her which ended up being her favorites - Daniel Tiger, bath time, goldfish crackers, etc.
I keep a tiny envelope of new circles next to the tree so we can continue to document our things to be thankful for until Thanksgiving.
I put a pea size of hot glue on the back and then pressed them directly onto the twigs. I've seen cute tags before that people tie on, but I didn't have the patience or time for that.
If you choose branches with leaves, I'd definitely recommend assembling your tree outside. I had leaves all over the patio so I was glad I did it outside.
This tree was nearly impossible to photograph inside...
here's the best I could do :)
Love this idea! Can't wait to make my own!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this! And it looks so great on your table. I'd definitely have to have mine up high, too... Brady really loves him some sticks!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I love the idea of displaying what you're thankful for!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! We are doing an I'm Thankful theme for the year end party and work - and that might be a big hit!
