Save or Splurge!?!?

We've got a long list of things we'd like to add to our new home.  Some we're hoping to buy new and some we'll likely find thrifted/vintage/second hand.  We don't have a huge decorating budget to work with so we're looking for great deals any chance we can get them.

My latest finds:

MIRROR
My dad took down the half bathroom mirror for us and suggested we put up something pretty in its place.  I started looking and spotted a beautiful mirror at Lowes for $90.  It was pricier than I wanted so I decided to start searching for a knock off version of it.  We have Kohls and TJ Maxx nearby so I started my search there.  I walked into TJ while Kevin stayed in the car with the kids - hooray!- and shopped alone for a solid 20 minutes.  It felt like a shopping spree and I couldn't believe my eyes when I found a VERY similar knock off of my beloved Lowes mirror for $14.99!!!!!!!!!!  I snapped a quick picture with it and rushed up to the check out.  Isn't it amazing!?!?  Can't wait to hang it or more realistically I can't wait for my dad to hang it :)
 My $15 SUPER find mirror:

The kids tag along for the vast majority of our shopping.  Olive loved helping us look for deals on carpet and suggested a "berry bootiful pink" for the house.  She also is highly entertained by "driving" while safely parked in a parking lot with a parent.

BAR STOOLS
We have a wonderful kitchen island and it has room for 3 bar stools.  I've been on the hunt for brightly colored bar stools that don't break the bank.  I like some sets of two, but run into trouble because I only need 3 not 4 stools.  I wanted them to not swivel, to be wood, no fabric, 24 inches tall and to be a bright spot in the kitchen.  I have been stalking Target's website and found several great bar stool options.  This weekend all of their furniture was 40%, free shipping, +ebates, + a gift card.  It was time to buy!!

We reviewed all of our color options and both agreed that YELLOW would be great :)  The Windsor Counter Stool 24" Hardwood Threshold was the winner.  So we've got three of these on the way to us and I'm hoping they're perfect.  The price was great and they have amazing reviews.  I always love it when a review claims that the product looks much more expensive than it is.

I am glad that I was able to SAVE and not have to SPLURGE on these items!!

I'm currently looking at patio tables, rugs, coffee table and curtain options so stay tuned for more installments of save or splurge :)

  3. My rule of thumb is that if it's something that you will grow out of - style wise or need - don't splurge. I like changing out decor so often that I tend to go the cheaper on those purchases.

  4. Good job friend. I think Stephanie has some great advice too ^. I never impulse buy on a splurge. If it's more than I want to pay I always check out all my options before buying it.

  5. Awesome steal on the mirror! I love finding cheaper stuff cause I know if something happens to it, I know I didn't put much money into it and can always buy something else to replace. I just turned a milk can into an outdoor table and now I have the itch to go find some more junk to make into something else!

  6. What a wonderful find on that mirror! So pretty! We still have a decor list a mile long for our new house, and it never seems to get any shorter because I keep thinking of things to add, lol! I am also on the hunt for a patio table/set, so if you find any good deals, please share. So far, the only ones I'm liking have been in the $600-$1000 range and that just ain't gonna happen!
