We had a great trip to Florida over Spring Break. The kids did really well on the flight down and back, loved the warm weather and did a great job of being little travelers. It was Fletcher's first flight and our first time to pack all the car seats, strollers, etc. I'll have to write up some tips we learned along the way. We met up with Kevin's parents and had lots of fun in the water. We went to the community pool as well as the beach. The weather was sunny and lovely, but a little cool to get in the ocean. Olive happily played in the chilly water, but everyone else just enjoyed the sunshine and sand in our toes.
We spent St. Patrick's Day on the ocean so that was a first. We tried to do lots of different things during our week so we did the ocean twice and the pool twice. It was hard to narrow down my favorite pictures so prepare for an overload of water pictures. We had a great time and I love documenting these days.
OCEAN DAYS:
Fletcher LOVED the sand, the breeze and the ocean. He could not be contained. This was his 2nd trip to the beach and it definitely won't be his last. He threw sand, dug in the sand and crawled around as fast as his little body could go. He loved looking at shells and we had to watch him like a hawk because he kept trying to eat all the shells.
We love the beaches in Naples. They're rarely crowded, such easy access and the views are stunning.
I surprised Olive with a new mermaid swimsuit and she was THRILLED. She wouldn't wear anything else all week.
Kevin was the only one who'd go out into the ocean with Olive. It was chilly so I stuck close to the shore and, thankfully, Olive was happiest in the warmer parts with me.
This was the first trip that Olive LOVED collecting sea shells. In years past, she'd collect them and then throw them all back into the ocean. It was like treasure hunting with her this year and we came up with a fun assortment of pretty shells.
Fletcher loved everything about the ocean... except for his beach hat.
POOL DAYS!
We sunscreened everyone up, packed up and headed to the pool. The kids were super excited and I was excited to see what they'd think of the pool. The water was much warmer than the ocean so it was a big hit. I love this picture of Olive and can't believe how grown up she looks! She picked out all of her accessories - purple almost head to toe :)
The kiddie pool was a big hit. The water was warmest and there weren't many kids around. Both kids loved playing with the measuring cups we brought, the animals and the drinking cups. Cheap toys seem to be their favorite pool toys.
Being 3 is exhausting.
Olive spent each day at the pool jumping to either my MIL or to Kevin. She would have done this all day long if they'd let her. She is determined to become a little fishy.
And this cute boy showed up at the kiddie pool during happy hour like this :) Seemed like the perfect way to celebrate a day in paradise. This picture might be my phone background because it definitely makes me SMILE.
Thanks for sticking with me to the end... we had a blast in the water even though it was a tiny bit chilly. The locals were complaining like crazy and we had to remind them that we left 20 degree Indiana with snow on the ground to head to Florida. No complaining from us!
All this talk about water makes me excited for summer!!
Oh my goodness Whitney! It looks like such a wonderful vacation! I wish I could've been there with you! Ha! I have never been to Naples… But it looks like such a beautiful place! So glad the kids did so great and even though the weather was supposedly "chilly" it was sunny and beautiful enough for you guys to be at the pool and the ocean!! Have a great day friend!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing trip! Those beach photos have me swooning for some ocean time myself. I love Olive's mermaid suit. I can't blame her one bit for wanting to wear it all week. Even if it was a bit cool, I can totally see no complaint coming from you guys. Glad your family had such a great time together.
ReplyDeleteAww, what fun!! Love beach / pool pics! Did you go to the outlet malls? Get anything fun? :-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you all had such an awesome time! What a perfect time of year to go too! :)
ReplyDeleteA Spring Break Florida trip is the perfect way to welcome the new season! It looks like you all had a great time!
ReplyDeleteSo my only questions is... when are we going back?
ReplyDeleteThat pool looks amazing. I have to say one perk of working in higher ed is that we have built-in spring breaks. We do have to take vacation time, but this makes it totally worth it.
