Showcasing Our Personalized Art

I always admire the homes that are curated.  The ones that have personalized art.  Decor that has a special meaning to them and not just things that they grabbed on Amazon or HomeGoods to fill their space.  I love some of those items and I own decor from those stores, but I want the majority of the items in my home to come with a story or have special meaning to us.

I'd been admiring different state prints from 50 States of Beauty for a while.  They have tons of beautiful prints and so many size options to choose from.  I really think there is something for everyone on their site - greeting cards to framed prints.  This could be the perfect way to send off a friend that's moving or welcome someone new to your state.  Or maybe even a little reminder of home to your college kid this Fall!

I settled on their floral line called Native Botanicals and couldn't wait to order prints from the different states we have lived in.  It's an important part of our family's story.  We loved living in Utah, Arkansas, Mississippi and now Indiana and are so thankful for the friends we made and the opportunities we had in each of those places.  I wanted a pretty reminder of the states that we have loved so much.

I ordered the greeting card size which was 5x7 and very affordable.  Then grabbed a set of matted gold frames from Amazon.  I love that the print includes the state and state flower, but in a subtle gold print.  Then the outline of the state and floral print can shine.

These prints hang in our dining room and they have already been a fun conversation starter when we have had guests over for dinner.

Another way that I've worked hard to add personalized art to our home is to frame kid art.  The kids attended a really wonderful art camp and have an outstanding art teacher at school.  They bring home really neat art projects often so I try to frame our favorites and display them.  The kids love seeing their art around our house.  It makes them feel like real artists and extra proud of their work.

Here are a few glimpses of kid art around our home:

Fletcher did this vase of sunflowers canvas at camp and the watercolor rainbow just for me at school.  Olive made this sunset out of clay at school.

Olive's vase of sunflowers.

And I adore this gold camera so much!  It's a couple years old from the Target dollar spot.  But it works perfectly as a fun reminder of me loving to take pictures of my family.  So not all big box store decor is bad, just use it in moderation!

Our entryway table displays favorite art projects from Summer art camp.  A turtle from Fletcher and a sunset from Olive.  And, yes, I'm still on the hunt for the perfect mirror or art to hang above my table!  I know I'll find the perfect thing for that spot one day.

Fletch loves turtles and I love this watercolor from him so much.

I don't ever want to forget his 7 year old artist signature with the backwards J.

I hope you enjoyed this little art tour and are inspired to personalize some art for your home!

Let me know if you have any questions or need any advice.

  1. I love this post!! We have almost all "personal" artwork hanging in our house - paintings by my dad and Grace, travel photographs, favorite Bible verses etc. I am filing away the state artwork store for a possible graduation gift for Grace - wouldn't it be cool for her to have one from Tx and Georgia? She's not sure yet where she'll be for graduate school, and this would be something nice to hang in her apartment. Thanks for the idea!!
