It's Valentine's Day week! Time to spread the love. I have several last minute valentine ideas to share with you. They're all affordable and super easy to pull off last minute.
1 // Heart Cinnamon Rolls
Buy a can of the cinnamon rolls that roll up into a circle. Our favorite are the Aldi brand for $1.18. Half way unwrap the cinnamon roll and then roll it back up with the flat piece meeting the rolled up side in the middle. It will leave you with two cinnamon roll swirls to meet together in the shape of a heart. Bake, ice them and then top them with red and pink sprinkles. My kids loved this for breakfast on Sunday.
2 // Cozy Blanket Gift
Do you know someone who would love a cozy blanket for Valentine's Day? Sams and Walmart both have TONS of cozy blanket patterns for around $10. Many stores have even started clearancing them out lower than that. I picked these leopard blankets up at Sams back in the Fall. I intended to give them to teachers for Christmas, but our schools were not open in person at Christmas. Fast forward to Valentine's Day! These cozy leopard blankets will be perfect teacher gifts for Valentine's Day. I added a bow, cute gift tag and my kids personalized them with their teacher names and their own names.
Sams currently has this leopard blanket for $9.98 if you want to go and grab it this week. It's neutral, so soft and so pretty. It would be great for friends, teachers, neighbors or anyone who needs a cozy reminder that you care this month.
3 // Love Notes
I've been doing heart notes to each person in my family since Feb 1st. They love them! I write them at night before I go to bed. They wake up and read the notes on their bedroom doors. Be specific when you name all the things you love about the people in your family. I love the way you... I love doing... I love your... and your family will LOVE it!
4 // Valentine Books
Every month I put out baskets of books for the current holidays or seasons. The kids look forward to the rotation of books and new material to read. Even Leo has figured out at 10 months old that these baskets are full of treasures. I have so many cute Valentine books to share with you.
They are all available on Amazon and can be at your house in just a day or two for a fun Valentine surprise for your kids. These are our very favorites out of a whole basket of books. We read them daily and can't recommend them enough. I'll include my Amazon links to them at the bottom of the post.
We have a whole basket of Valentine books and these 7 are our must have favorites!!
And most are still available on Amazon for under $10!
Little Blue Truck's Valentine // A perfect addition to the Little Blue Truck series. It's thoughtful, cute and festive. The little truck makes personalized valentines for all of his friends and delivers them. There are animal friends on every page and a happy ending with friends at the end. My kids love this!
Huggy Kissy // We are big fans of any Leslie Patricelli board books. Each of my kids when they were younger LOVED these books. They're sweet, silly and the rhyming text makes them fun to read aloud.
Tiny T. Rex and the Impossible Hug // Tiny T Rex is very endearing. He struggles with being so tiny and reaches out to all of his family and friends for help solving his hugging problem. It's sweet and silly and the illustrations are so sweet. Tiny T Rex will become a friend by the end of the book. My kids are already asking for more Tiny T Rex books from series.
Words and Your Heart // This book was the surprise favorite! It's perfect for older kids learning how important their words really are. All my kids enjoyed this book, but lines like - your words can do amazing things or some words can really hurt or words have power - really resonate with my oldest. This book brings up some really good conversations about the words we say and how we can spread love and encouragement with our words. This would be a great book for at home or for the classroom. The message is really important. It's also a super sturdy board book style book for older kids.
Hug Machine // This might be our favorite Valentine's Day book. It's funny, silly and so sweet. The illustrations are child like and interesting. The message of loving to hug, loving everyone and everything and sweetness is really cute. Ever wonder how you could hug a porcupine? Hug everyone in your neighborhood? This book will show you.
In My Heart: A Book of Feelings // This is a really sweet story of all the big feelings in your heart. It gives you lots to talk about with your kids and normalizes all the emotions they may be feeling at different times. The language in the book is just like a child would talk and feel. My kids really relate to this one and there are hearts cut out of every page.
How Do Lions Say I Love You? // I picked this book up for Leo this year and all the kids like it. The Golden Book is full of animals loving on their babies or friends. It brings up lots of good conversation about way show you love other animals and people. The illustrations are really sweet.
Would your kids, nieces/nephews, students or friends like any of these??
What are your Valentine's Day plans for this week?
