Tuesday Talk: Week 2 with Two

Hi Friends!!  I hope you've been enjoying all the fun guest blog posts that have been coming your way.  I'm really thankful for the bloggy break and am loving reading all these tips and tricks from other moms.  Thanks for your sweet comments and emails.  I'm behind on blog reading, blog commenting, replying to your comments, and thank you note writing, but I'm right on track with snuggling my babies.  I promise I will eventually reply so I haven't forgotten about you and appreciate your emails.  I'm working on some fun things for May so I am excited to share those posts with you.

It's been a busy week at our house.  We've had visitors from in and out of town and been enjoying life as a family of four.  Our house projects are all going well thanks to my dad and we're enjoying delicious meals thanks to our family and friends.  I'm recovering well and overall feeling great.  My back has been sore, but I'm sure that's because it's nearly impossible to take it easy and not lift heavy things when you've got a very busy toddler on your hands.

Fletcher is doing really well.  He's a great snuggly baby and we all survived him having a little laser procedure done last week on his lip and tongue tie.  Kevin took off to head to Indianapolis with us to have a specialist check out his mouth.  I was thankful to not have to go to this appointment on my own with two kiddos.  It was a pretty quick process, but the recovery plan of relearning how to nurse/eat/suck along with stretching exercises for his little mouth have been hard on all of us.  It'll be just fine in the long run, but it's so hard to see your baby in pain.

Olive is loving being a big sister.  She asks for her brother when she wakes up in the morning, is anxious to check on him throughout the day and only once asked me to put him back in his "cage" so I could play with her.  I think she confused his swing with a cage, but it made me laugh nonetheless.  It seems that an almost three year age gap is perfect for siblings.  She's eager to help and spends her day asking, "What do you need Mama?" in the hopes that I'll ask her to help me with something.  It's adorable and she lights up when she knows she's being helpful.  We had minor meltdowns this week, days of skipped naps and a few outbursts, but overall, we're doing great.

My favorite moments of the week:

 1. Going out and about with these two:
The toddler is the demanding one and the infant is shining his halo sleeping through the entire outing.  We've been to Lowes & TJ Maxx a few times picking up stuff for our new house.

2. Introducing Fletcher to more family & friends:
Kevin's parents

My sister came in town with some delicious food for us.

Cousins:

Jacque spent the day with us:
Visiting, house tour, Panera & TJ Maxx were a nice change of pace.

 3. Sibling Sweetness:
Olive asks to hold Fletcher regularly and loves to snuggle him.  She calls him little fella and she's been pretty gentle with him.  I hear her repeating the things I'm saying to him to her baby dolls.  She will rock them, change their diapers and come to me to say her babies are crying.  It's sweet to see her in this new role.  She asks me, "What can I do for you Mama?" and is loving doing things to help.

Even the kitty siblings are interested :)

Olive's little world has been rocked these past few weeks and she's really handling it like a champ.  She's enjoying the extra attention from family that comes in town and she seems to be unphased that the visitors are there to meet her brother.  Everyone has given her plenty of attention and she's even gotten some fun big sister gifts along the way.  This stick horse is a favorite - she loved it so much she insisted on napping with it.

4. My boys:
We spent a lot of time watching The Masters last week.  We're also getting better at tag teaming things in the evening.  Kevin was working on replying to school emails and I was making dinner.  He was on baby duty and it was so cute.

 5. All the Snuggles:
You kind of forget how squishy and snuggly newborns are when it's been a few years since you had a newborn.  We spend many hours a day snuggling this sweet little guy.  Especially the hours of 11pm-3am when he seems to be wide awake these days.

Hope you have a great week and I'll look forward to checking in again next Tuesday :)

  1. I have been so nervous to have Parker because Lucy is still so young and having 2 under 2 sounds terrifying, but seeing all of your sweet squishy pictures of Fletcher makes me not want to wait another minute! He is so cute, and I love how Olive just loves him!

  12. So sweet! I love the newborn squish! Olivia had a lip tie - we were told not to get it fixed by her ENT because it wasn't bad - and one fall while learning to walk broke it. It was a lot of blood but didn't seem to cause her much pain. Hope Fletcher is feeling okay. Seems like Olive loves being a big sister and you guys are settling well into life with 2!
