Naples Fun Part 2

Here is Part 2 of our trip :)

6. The Ocean

The ocean in Naples is so pretty.  The water is clear, clean and the beaches are not nearly as crowded as beach on the panhandle.  We always drive down 5th avenue and head to the ocean where it dead ends.  We had fun arriving early in the morning, late in the afternoon and the kids found lots of shells.  Everyone enjoyed swimming in the ocean.  The parking has changed a bit and now in many areas you have to park a block away from the ocean.  Residents now have priority parking right near the beach.  It didn't end up being a big deal, but the change was a surprise to us.

All three kids loved the ocean.  The water was so calm.  The kids had inflatables and just floated around.  They wore goggles, collected shells and swam a ton.

Father's Day at the ocean :)

7. New Restaurants

We always try to do a mix of take out and eating in restaurants.  Oftentimes the kids are just worn out from a busy day in the water so take out works wonderful.  We loved Napoli on the Bay Pizza, Jet's Pizza & breadsticks and Let's Get Asian Fusion for take out.  We ate at Mr. Tequilas, the pool grill at Lely, Sam Snead's Tavern at Lely and Tommy Bahama.  We'd go back to all of them.

8. Shopping

We checked out Coastland Center Mall for the first time and the Miromar Outlet Mall north of Naples.  We each found a few things we loved and enjoyed all the shopping options.  The outlet mall is great - there are tons of fountains for the kids to toss coins in and other ponds with koi fish.  Olive and I accidentally matched for our day of shopping :)

9. Walks

Almost every night we went on walks around the resort.  We saw all kinds of wildlife and it was good to get out and enjoy the tropical views.

10.  Tropical Plants

I just love seeing all the beautiful tropical plants that grow in Naples.  We're in a totally different growing zone in Indiana so there are lots of new to us plants down there.

If you've never been to Naples, Florida, I would HIGHLY recommend that you put it on your radar.  Go in the off season (summer time) for the best deals, lowest crowds and great times.  Feel free to comment or message me if you want any more information about planning a trip to Naples.

  1. We always found that take out worked better for dinner when our kids were little too. The beach looks wonderful.

  2. And now I want to go to Naples. The lack of crowds compared to the Panhandle sounds wonderful!
