Family Fun 4th of July

We had the best 4th of July to date.  The kids had a blast and we packed in so many fun things over the long weekend.  We got to see friends, fireworks and had tons of fun.  Let me show you...

We got invited to what was described as the best 4th of July party ever by my friend, Whitney.  She's known for her party planning and we were so excited to go.  We met lots of new people and had a great day.

There were toys galore, a pool, water balloons, a swing set, a bounce house and then Whitney had planned the most creative games!  The kids were in heaven and the parents had so much fun watching the fun.

The Shirt of Fun - tons of toys, whistles and candy hot glued on a t-shirt worn by her husband.  The kids got to chase him around the coned area and pull off treats.  It was hilarious.

Cheeto Toss - The dads/men wore shower caps topped with shaving cream.  The kids got handfuls of Cheetos to toss at them.  The winner was the kid who got the most Cheetos to stick to their dad's head.  Super funny to watch!

A certain sweet boy went around snacking on Cheetos off the ground :)

Cheeto Race - Olive's #1 fave game.  Each kid got a cup rubber banded to the top of their feet.  The moms filled the cups up with Cheetos.  The winner was the first kid to the finish line with the most Cheetos left in their cup.  It was super funny to watch.  Olive was the first to the finish line, but had zero Cheetos in her cup.  I kept refilling her cups and letting her run with them.  She is now asking to play this game at home.

Bike parade!  There were TONS of festive decorations, bubbles and glow sticks to decorate with.  The parents helped their kids decorate and then they were off.  We greeted them at the finish line with a shower of silly string.  Olive ditched her scooter pretty quickly and ran the parade route.

Fireworks!  We did tons of sparklers and then Whitney's family put on an impressive fireworks show.  We weren't sure the kids could stay up until 10, but they did great.  They LOVED the fireworks.  They laughed, clapped and cheered through the entire show and then fell asleep on the drive home.

We were telling everyone goodbye and Olive asked if she could stay at their house forever.  I think that sums up the fun we had :)

We made some delicious red, white and blue colored food all weekend long.  Rice Krispie Treat Pops, Fruit Skewers and Red, White & Blueberry pancakes.  Olive loves helping in the kitchen so it was fun to have recipes we could do together.

We headed to the country club on the 4th.  It was really hot so the pool seemed like the best place to start our day.  The kids had a great time at the pool, bounce house and eating snow cones.  Last year it POURED all day long on the 4th so this year it was exciting that it was a gorgeous day.

We took it easy the rest of the day.  We went on a walk, wore our red, white and blue and set of fireworks in our driveway.  We're getting to know our neighbors more so it was fun to get out a bunch of lawn chairs and hang out with them.  I had to go out and get Olive & Kevin at 10:45 to call it a night!  They had a blast (haha) with all the fireworks!!

We sure are thankful to live in the USA!!  Happy America Day as Olive says...

Hope you have a great weekend!!
