I Confess...

I have a few things to get off my chest today...

1. Olive is climbing on everything.  I have to keep all of our chairs pushed in and watch her like a hawk.  She climbs up, we say DOWN, she wags her finger at us and laughs.  She doesn't get down and we have to go and get her down.  She's trained us well.  Oh and I'm guilty of snapping pictures of her impressive climbs and then reprimanding her.  She's just so cute... maybe I should buy her a helmet??

2. My kitchen sink currently looks like this... I got lots done today but dishes didn't happen.  It all started when I went to unload the dishwasher and realized I was putting away dirty dishes.  I'd forgotten to run it the night before.  So I had a dishwasher packed with dirty dishes and an overflowing sink.  Awesome.

3. I confess that sometimes I write Whiney instead of Whitney.  It might be fitting at times.

4. My husband and I are notorious for starting watching TV series and not finishing them.  Here's the proof: Lost, Jericho and Prison Break.  Lost got boring after season 2ish or maybe we made it to 3.  Jericho killed off our favorite patriarch character so we stopped watching.  Prison Break is great but we got rid of Netflix.  We made it through 3 seasons and are planning to get the others from Amazon sometime...

5. A repairman was at our house recently and we started talking about our {largish} cat Oliver.  He was asking me some cat questions and then proceeded to lift Oliver's tail to see if he was a boy or a girl.  He confirmed he was a boy and then made some comment about him being neutered.  I was traumatized and couldn't believe what I was seeing.  Oliver went into hiding - do you blame him??  Note to self: guard the cats from future repairmen.

6. I've never read/seen Gone with the Wind.  People in the South reference it in everyday conversations so I feel a little out of the loop.  I definitely need to read/watch it ASAP so I can carry on conversations and get these inside jokes.

7. I am in search of a mosquito repellent that works on me.  I bought some super strength stuff in an orange spray bottle and it must be sugar water because I get eaten up every time I step outside.  My mom did tell me that Pinterest taught her if you rub an Elmer's glue stick on your fresh bite that it'll stop itching.  I confess that it totally works.

8. Olive just turned 16 months and I have not assembled/written out her first year scrapbook.  I have all the supplies - paper, stickers, albums - and need to print out some blog stories and favorite pictures.  I wanted to display it at her first birthday party but that didn't happen.  I'm not even working outside the home right now so what am I doing with my time - haha.  Maybe I'll get it done by her 2nd birthday and can display it then??  Seriously though I want to get it done because she loves looking at my other photo albums & scrapbooks so I want her to have her own.

9. I've been meeting a lot of new people lately - at church, story time, neighbors, Bible Study and MOPS.  There are tons of nice ladies and TONS of things to remember.  Their names, their kid's names/ages, their backgrounds, etc.  It's a little exhausting!  My trusty old trick for remembering new names is to: ask them their name and then picture someone else that I know with that name.  Next, imagine those two people being friends.  It usually works out pretty well UNLESS I meet someone with a completely unique name.  Then, I'm all out of tricks.  I try to write down their name and a little note about them but it's tough.  I kind of want everyone to wear name tags :)

10. My last confession... I hate ending lists on odd numbers and will always come up with one more thing so I can end on an even number.  Sad but true.

Linking up for Confessional Friday

  1. Oh my gosh! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does the Whiney/Whitney thing! And yeah, it's probably more accurate than I want it to be.

    #6 Yes, yes you do.

#9 We do wear name tags at MOPS. Total life saver. Until you run into someone at the store ;)

  3. HA! I loved this post. I am definitely with you on so many of these! Our little one isn't climbing on things, but she's definitely getting that "I know you don't want me to do this, but I'm going to do it anyway" face. I have bit my lip so many times just today to make sure I wasn't laughing when she was delivering the sass.

And I'm notorious for forgetting names/kids' names/where I know you from... why can't we all have name tags 100% of the time?

  4. What a great list! It's so hard not to laugh or take pics of my kids when they do stuff like that too! I'm so bad with names too. I work in the medical field so I'm used to having their name on a chart in front of me. I'm lost in real life! And here's a confession from me in reply to one of yours...I hated Gone with the Wind! Ugh, Scarlett is so unlikable! Well, anyway, have a great weekend! -Jess

  5. I didn't see Gone with the Wind until a few years ago, so don't feel bad! It took me a few times to figure everything out because it is so long but it I love it! I even got my boyfriend to watch it! Though he only made it halfway. Haha bless his heart! :)
