The Highlights

It was a fun week of ups and downs at our house.  We had a great time with family and celebrating our baby boy last weekend.  Olive has been battling a cold/ear troubles all week, but seems to be on the mend.  We stayed close to home, wore our pjs too long, ate good food and worked on potty training.  Exciting times :)

The highlights of our week were:

Baby Sprinkle

My sweet MIL threw the nicest baby sprinkle for me on Saturday.  It was so fun and great to celebrate our little boy.  Everyone went above and beyond to make it happen and I just loved seeing all of the little boy things.  Fletcher is due to arrive in five weeks or less so the timing was perfect.  I wrote about the sprinkle earlier this week with a picture overload.

Copycat Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls

I mentioned on instagram this week that I tried a new recipe for copycat Cinnabons and they were tasty!  Check back next week for the recipe.

Zulily

I love the idea of Zulily, but have only purchased a few things from them.  I think I could find something to buy every single day if I looked at their deals so I try to only check when I need something specific.  However, when I got a text from my friend Meg, I knew I had to have a monogrammed clover of my own!  Now I just need to decide how to paint it and hang it on my front door ASAP.

My Cats

I have the cutest cats and they are becoming sweeter and sweeter with my toddler.  Topher takes a peaceful afternoon nap every day when Olive does and would love for me to join him.  Oliver has become a kitty pillow of sorts.  I found them watching cartoons together on my bed and Oliver was purring so I know he wasn't be tortured.  It's taken almost 3 years for them to love each other so it's fun to see my fur babies loving my baby.

Chocolate Bunny

It's a guarantee that if Kevin goes to the store he's coming home with something fun for our daughter - cookies, treats, playdoh, etc.  He thinks of things I'd never think of picking up and she adores her random surprises.  This week he came home with a chocolate bunny for her and she was THRILLED.  I was impressed with her self control because she just ate the ears and then moved on.  She's lucky to have such a sweet daddy.

It's All in the {Sprinkle} Details

I wanted to write one final post about Fletcher's sprinkle.  

The details came together perfectly and I think the guests appreciated them.

// FAVORS //

Chocolate covered pretzels are one of my very favorite treats so I thought they'd be perfect favors for my guests.  I did a little price research and found that the best deal on pretzels was a huge container at Sams for under $6 and all the toppings came from the baking aisle at Wal-Mart.  

I used white chocolate and milk chocolate almond bark

mini m&ms

heath bar

mini chocolate chips

sprinkles

pecans

 It only took me about an hour to dip 200+ pretzels and then another hour to let them dry.

It was fun to have a big variety of toppings.

I put 6 pretzels/bag and made sure to have 6 different pretzels in each bag.

I picked up a giant roll of ribbon from my favorite ribbon spot - SAMS!!

It's $5.96 for 50 yards of wired ribbon and the burlap was perfect!

It seemed boyish, you know I love polka-dots and I can use this ribbon for many other things!

I color printed these favor tags in navy from Play Party Plan.

They worked out perfectly and we got several compliments on them. 

I cut all the ribbon the same length and then tied them into a bow tie kind of bow.

I attached the thank you tag to the wire twist tie and then tied the bow over that.

They turned out great!

I made extra and had zero to take home with me.

// FRESH FLOWERS //

My MIL purchased 3 spring plants to give out to guests.  She selected tulips and hyacinths that were so pretty.  Then she wrote Fletcher on the bottom of two dinner plates and picked an envelope from the thank you notes to give flowers to.  The guests loved taking them home and no one had to play games.

// GUEST BOOK //

I look for any way to add books to my children's library so having a guest book for guests to write a message in was perfect.  I picked up "Are You My Mother?" because I love the book and we don't already have it.  It was laid on the entry table and guests were encouraged to sign in several times throughout the sprinkle.  I can't wait to share it with Fletcher when he gets older.  I've done birthday party guest books for Olive the past two years and she loves them.  We talk about who wrote each message and it's a fun keepsake for her.

 // THANK YOU NOTES //

My MIL picked up some F monogrammed note cards for me to use as thank you notes.  They were so cute and went with our alphabet theme so well.  All of the guests wrote their names and addresses on each envelope to save me some work.  She found these cute cards at Target and I'm thinking about picking up another box to have on hand for thank you notes for our little guy.

Sprinkled with Love

It was so fun to celebrate baby Fletcher's upcoming arrival with some of our favorite family and friends.  We had a great turn out and it was so special to celebrate this milestone with people who were at our wedding almost 12 years ago and all of our big milestones since then.  I realize this may not be the most exciting post for anyone outside of my family to read, but I'm thankful for all these sweet ladies and wanted to document the day :)

Baby Boy Sprinkle

My sweet MIL offered to host a little sprinkle in honor of baby Fletcher a few months ago and last weekend was the big event.  We invited close family and friends and had a wonderful time.  I can't wait to share all the details with you so let's start with the invitation:

I LOVED the unique designs in this shop and the owner was quick, personable and so great to work with.  I'll definitely be using this shop again in the future.

My MIL planned a delicious brunch menu and asked for a few people to bring yummy things.

The food was amazing!!

 I made chocolate covered pretzel favors and will go into more detail about those tomorrow.

 We ate, visited, enjoyed dessert and opened gifts.

No games, just kept things simple.

My MIL's living room is a pretty great spot to gather.

We got so many cute boy things - personalized, handmade and super thoughtful gifts.

Kevin and Olive came half way through the Sprinkle.

They were just in time to help open gifts.

Olive had fun helping me and claimed a few things for herself.

Mommy + Fletcher at 34 weeks

Big sister got a bouquet of balloons and she was thrilled.

She went on to try to convince everyone that it was her birthday.

Just 3 months early on that one :)

My SIL made that cute yellow bucket with Fletcher's name on it,

my sister has been busy sewing her heart out to make the banner, shoes, alphabet and F cookies,

and so many other sweet things from sweet ladies!

 The preparation for baby number 2 feels very different than it did for Olive.  We've got all the basics and are just needing boy things, fun things for his nursery and boy toys.  We are not trying to gather all the things and feel as prepared as you can be to add another person to your family.  We feel like we have an idea of what to expect although we realize that every baby is different.  We're excited to be just a few weeks away from meeting Fletcher!!
