Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends!  I hope you've had a good week.  Our week flew by so fast after that three day weekend.  We packed in lots of fun and lots of bike rides.

Did you catch my blog posts this week?

The best parts of our week were:

1 // Mom's Group

Our favorite mom's group at church started back up this week!  Leo moved up to a new class and we both had a great time.  It felt so so so good to not be the new ones this year.  I had lots of friends to say hello to and plenty of ladies to hug.  I didn't know a single person when mom's group started last year.  It's intimidating to walk into a room full of women and know no one.  I guess that's a perk of moving a lot.  I'm used to being the new one and having to work hard to make friends.  All of my work in the friend department this last year has really paid off and been a big blessing to our family.

Leo's favorite is getting to pack a "packpack" to bring to church.

2 // Amazon Favorites & links:

Love Her Well - I love Kari Kampakis and enjoy following her on social media so much.  She has tons of great parenting advice and wisdom for raising girls (she has 4) and raising teens.  I picked up this book and have been looking forward to reading it in car line every afternoon.  I'm half way through and have enjoyed it so much.  She gives tons of practical ways to enjoy and love on your preteens and teens. I also think that many of the suggestions that she gives are applicable to your sons, too!  10/10 recommend it.

This set of jelly bracelets (white ones pictured above) are my #1 accessory of the year.  I bought this big variety pack that's 20% off right now and I wear them every single day.  They're waterproof, really durable and are the perfect busy mom accessory.  I kept several sets for myself and have gifted several sets.  Everyone loves them!

And this might just be my favorite dress for Fall!!  It's on an amazing sale right now.  I ordered it in several colors - purple and black and I'm tempted to order that pretty orange one for Fall.  Wouldn't this dress be lovely for family pictures later this year!?!  You can't beat that $35.99 Lightning Deal price plus the 20% off coupon to clip.  What a deal!

3 // College Soccer

We went to a University of Evansville soccer game this week to see a friend play and we had fun.  The weather was perfection.  The big kids were interested in the game and Leo was glad we brought cars for him to play with.  Soccer is new to all of us so we were giggling after watching a half to see that the score was still 0-0.  Our only soccer reference is Ted Lasso + a few professional soccer games when we lived in Salt Lake City.  Overall, we had a blast trying something new.

Two peas in a pod.  Exact same personalities.  Exact same guys.  Love them lots!  I'll be framing this cute picture for Kevin's office.

4 // Cute Brothers

I love finding these two snuggled up together.  They share a room now and I never know where to find them when I check on everyone before I go to bed.

5 // Helpers

Olive and Fletch ran some errands with me and helped me pick out some birthday flowers for my MIL.  They also kept adding in all their favorite things to my cart at Sams.  Is it possible to shop for a family and spend under $300 here anymore!?!  We love Sams, but do not love grocery prices right now.

6 // Backyard

These two would live in the backyard if I'd allow it.  Or if I just provided the snacks.  They love to dig, build and explore the creek .  They are currently planning a creek side camp out for Fall.  I'm so thankful that Kevin thought to buy the lot next door to our house so that we could have a large yard and a creek for the kids to play in.  He's a smart guy!

7 // Bike rides

I love riding bikes with my kids in our neighborhood.  We go on after school bike rides, after dinner bike rides and sometimes it's just a fun way to get some alone time with one kid.  Leo's bike skills and road skills are improving every day.  They've been riding bikes in the evening with their neighborhood friends, too.  The moms visit and the kids ride.

8 // Notre Dame won again!

We're off to a great start with our new QB.  Leo loves a good touch down push up, but he's not so sure that football is fun to watch for 4 hours in a row.

9 // Fireworks

Kevin loves fireworks more than anyone I know.  We had some leftover fireworks from July so he figured that Labor Day weekend was the perfect time to do one last fireworks show.  The neighbors cheered from their houses and it was a lot of fun to do a quick show at sunset.

10 // Labor Day Cookout

We had a cookout at our house with some friends and I just love all the foods that go with grilled meat.  I made cookie bars and deviled eggs and Kevin grilled for us.  It was a fun evening to wrap up the Summer.  Even if we were all a little sad to say goodbye to Summer.

11 // Pumpkin Bread season!

I made 3 loaves of pumpkin chocolate chip bread this week and they were inhaled!!  We ate it for breakfast, snacks and I packed it in lunches.  The kids are already asking for more because three loaves was not enough :)

12 // Days with Leo

I love my days with Leo.  And I'm thankful to have had all these years to be a full time mom because they have flown by.  Olive is 10 and it seems like just yesterday I was doing all of these things with toddler Olive.  I love doing all the errands, story times, Bible studies and meeting up with friends.  I'm going to miss Leo when it's his turn to head off to school.

Have you heard that song by Cory Asbury with the line - "These are the days that we'll want back"?  That's exactly what came to mind when I snapped this picture at the grocery store this week.

I hope you have a great weekend!  I'll see you back here on Monday :)

  2. Sounds like a wonderful week and last hurrah to summer!! Looking forward to hearing more about your fall decor, clothes, and food!! I'm baking my first loaf of pumpkin today but haven't done any decorating yet. The 90's temps earlier this week did not put me in the mood, haha!

  3. I've been thinking of making pumpkin bread... but I ended up making zucchini bread this week instead since I had that on hand and no pumpkin. The cookout sounds like fun. I don't think we have gotten out of Bj's with spending under $400 in months... despite promising myself and the whole family that "we're cutting back next time!"
