The Highlights

It's been a bit of a wild week at our house.

We had family in town visiting, stopped by our new house to find a water pipe had burst and flooded the laundry room, had to deal with the clean up/warranty details, picked out a sofa and I had several visits to see my doctor and get monitored since I'm wrapping up my 37th week of pregnancy.  We're looking forward to a fun Easter weekend filled with a bunny brunch, egg hunts, pretty dresses and sunshine.  Our plan is to stay close to home and going to enjoy our last Easter as a family of three.  I'm pretty excited for the Easter fun ahead and watching ND and IU continue on in the NCAA tournament.  I still have 9 teams in the sweet 16 so I'm hoping to see some good games.  My husband and I are in first place with a bracket we did together so I'm hopeful we'll finish strong.  How are your teams doing??

The best parts of our week were:

Our New House
We got to spend some time hanging out at our house this week.  Repairmen tend to run on their own timelines so two hours turned into 4.5 hours.  Luckily we had toys, picnic lunch supplies and clorox wipes so we made the best of our time at the house and got a little cleaning done.  This is a picture of Olive hanging out in our family room.  She'd picked herself a bouquet of "bootiful flowers" (dandelions), enjoyed twirling around this big empty room and was thrilled to play in our new space.  This area of the house SOLD us on the house!  There are HUGE windows throughout the whole room, original floors, a pretty fireplace and I can't wait to decorate this space.

Easter: Toddler Edition
Olive's Easter basket is done and I can't wait for her to find it Sunday morning!  I talked about all the details for what I put in her basket earlier in the week.  I included educational, practical and fun things to come up with a great basket for her.  I also stuffed 48 Easter eggs for Olive to hunt on Sunday.  I left some empty and then varied the candy & Annie's bunnies in the rest.  We're planning to dye eggs, make Easter cupcakes, fix an Easter meal and do an Easter art project this weekend.

CHUNKY MONKEY BARS
These have been all the rage at my house lately.  I made them for a treat two weeks in a row and they never last long.  Several of my friends have tried them and rave about them, too.  They are definitely my new favorite recipe to make with ripe bananas.  Go here to find my recipe

TACO DIP
I made this delicious taco dip for some NCAA tournament watching this week and it was so yummy!  It's hardly even a recipe because you just grab all of your favorite mexican food items and layer it in a casserole dish.  Super easy and super tasty!
My dip had the following layers:
refried beans
ground beef seasoned with taco seasoning
black olives
corn
black beans
1/2 a red, yellow and orange pepper diced
jalapenos
spoonfuls of cream cheese
salsa
shredded sharp cheddar
top with green onions after it's baked at 375 for 15 minutes
serve with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream & your favorite tortilla chips

New Summer Bag
I ordered this bag from Marley Lilly and loved how it turned out!  I don't own anything like it and think it's going to be perfect for heading to the pool & beach this summer.

Be sure and check out my favorite posts from this week:

I hope you have a really great Easter weekend filled with chocolates, yummy food
and time with family & friends!!

  7. Hi Whitney! Happy to get to visit today as your neighbor at the Linkup at Grammie Time. So enjoyed the visit and seeing a bit of your story. I LOVE the family room as well. I agree with your daughter about that one. Have a blessed Easter weekend and blessings on the birth of this new family addition!

  8. Those windows are gorgeous. How great is the light coming in too. My grandkids love running through empty rooms. When we are redoing a room, we save a day just so they can come over and play, run and enjoy "dance parties" without having to worry about anything. It won't be long now. Rest up. Happy Easter!

  9. That one room would have sold me too. The windows are so beautiful and it looks like y'all have a nice sized backyard. Sorry about that pipe bursting but it looks like y'all got it handled pretty quickly. We just dyed eggs and everyone's hands are now very colorful. Have a great Easter!
