They caught a variety of fish - much larger fish than they are used to catching in Indiana. They did catch and release because most of the fish they caught weren't delicious fish to eat.
It was fun to watch their boat return to the dock.
I took Olive and Leo out for some fun while the boys were fishing. We explored a nearby town - Baraboo, Wisconsin. It's the cutest town with the cutest town square. It's the home of all things circus and they have a ton of things that are completely unrelated to the circus. We love the ETC Boutique and Bekah Kate's kitchen and home store. There's also several cute antique shops and a book store.
They have a small park off the square that was a great spot to take a break from shopping.
We grabbed all the pumpkin treats we could find! Olive would tell you that Starbucks has the best PSL, McDonald's is pretty good and that Dunkin's PSL is too sweet. They do have a delicious pumpkin loaf, though.
We shopped at the outlet mall, but didn't find much this trip. We are both working hard to only buy clothes we LOVE.
After a busy day for all of us, we ended up grabbing dinner at B Lux. They have great burgers and my pulled pork mac & cheese was delicious.
We stayed near Mt. Olympus. It was fun to see once, but we wouldn't go back. It's very dead in the off season since most of their activities are outdoors.
We couldn't wait to eat at our favorite - Hot Rocks! You order steak or seafood to grill on a hot rock right at your table. It's so fun!
Their vegetable sides are so good and I always order their NY strip. It's a huge portion so I share with the kids who order smaller kid's meals. Kevin got tips on how to grill his seafood perfectly and loved it.
Some things were closed for the season so we ended up at Dennys for breakfast.
The boys wanted to stop and see these transformers up close. We didn't pay to go into the museum. We just visited the free things outside.
This was the resort we stayed at this time. Our room was very comfy/cozy. It was a quiet property with mostly older people and not a lot of kids. We prefer the amenities at Wilderness Resort where we usually go, but it was fun to try something new.
We love Kyoto hibachi. It's always delicious. Just make sure to make a reservation if you want to sit at a hibachi table.
These two kept saying 6-7 all trip long.
Dunkin Donuts and iced coffee in our room was a great way to start the day. See what I mean - tons of outdoor things to do at the nearby Mt. Olympus, but very quiet in the off season.
We had a great time shopping together!
And the boys found a new favorite stuffed animal - Fugglers. They are silly looking!
I'm so thankful to have a full week of Fall Break! We all enjoyed the week off :)
The fishing trip looks like so much fun, and looks like you had some good shopping time with Olive too. We have a place similar to Hot Rocks, and love to go with the whole family.
