Happy Friday, friends! It's been a wild weather week in the Midwest. We had several rounds of storms and ended up with a day off of school yesterday because of storm damage around the city. Everything was okay at our house and we were thrilled to have a bonus day at home. Even though our modem got zapped and we didn't have internet.
The best parts of our week were:
1. Chocolate chip sour dough bread. My loaf turned out heart shaped and it was so good!
2. Mr Mittens loves a good chair nap.
A vet close to our house finally started taking new clients! We made well check appointments for all three cats over spring break. They were very well behaved and we loved the new vet. He was kind to the 3 kids and 3 cats in the room and answered all of their questions. He even gave Fletcher a stethescope to listen to the cat's heart beat. We are still laughing because he looked at Mr. Mittens teeth and said, "Whoa! You're going to be a BIG boy with all those BIG teeth!" He said he's still got a lot of growing to do. It felt good to have this to do crossed off the list.
3. Late night storm parties. We had our flashlights, blankets, games and phones to keep an eye on the weather. The boys liked to play games and Olive preferred to make bracelets and Facetime her friends. Thankfully, we didn't have to stay very long and the kids slept nearby.
4. Leo loves a good snuggle. He's getting so tall and looking so grown up lately. But he'll always be our baby.
5. And then he puts on his favorite dinosaur onesie birthday gift and instantly looks little again. He was excited to look around outside after a night of crazy storms.
6. A surprise day home together meant errands, going to our favorite spots and picking up lunch at our favorite drive thru. It's also been so rainy that our rain coats are getting used a lot.
7. Flat Stanley! We are starting to get our Flat Stanley's back in the mail and it's been so much fun to see what adventures our characters have been on. Mine went to visit my cousin in Destin, Florida. My class loved hearing about the beach. So far we've gotten packages from Colorado and Florida.
8. Kevin is teaching Fletcher the art of a beautiful grocery store bouquet. They ran to the store after school, scoped out the flowers and grabbed a few items and then Fletcher picked out the prettiest bouquet he could find for me. They are beautiful and the cats are completely uninterested in them. Yay.
9. Penny has a new favorite spot to sleep. She's the sweetest.
10. Kindergarten is so much fun. Have I mentioned that?? We're also reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle. And we have a class pet named Ralph that goes home with the kids. They show him around their house and do fun things with him at home. Then they write a couple of journal entries to share with the class. It's been so much fun!
11. March Madness in Indiana is a big deal! There are all kinds of basketball themed snacks in the stores. The kids had the best time shooting hoops all around our favorite local grocery store last weekend. I'm hoping to make a yummy snack board with this Hoops Mix.
12. Curbside/Drive Up services are such a gift!! I did some last minute grocery + birthday gift shopping and Target had it in my trunk 1 minute after I pulled up. It's the nicest service for moms of littles, busy people or really anyone.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! See you back here on Monday :)

Ohhhh - I have to look for that hoops mix! Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI am glad everything was OK at your house after the storm.
ReplyDeleteYum! That sourdough bread looks so good!
It sounds like a good visit to the vets.
Aww! What an adorable little dinosaur you have.
How exciting to be getting your Flat Stanley's back.
I can't imagine what a game changer drive-up service would have been when my kids were little! I'm glad you found a new vet. It must be a popular clinic if they weren't taking new clients! The mouse/journal idea is so fun!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing a peak at your week! You always are having so much fun! Glad everything was OK after the storms, it has been some crazy spring weather! Have a wonderful weekend :)
