Good morning, friends! I hope your week is off to a sunny start! I loved hearing that you really enjoyed my monthly coffee chat posts so here we go. I wish I could have you over for coffee and some freshly baked chocolate zucchini bread mini bundt cakes this morning. My kids have been begging me to make it for weeks. Here's the run down of everything I'd love to chat with you about today.
1 // Kevin and I finished watching Friday Night Lights this week and I'm sad it's over. Texas forever. I didn't love the last season and wasn't so sure about how all the story lines played out, but it was nice to end with everyone smiling with happy prospects for the future. I'm still mad about Tim going to prison, the big move to the east coast, the engagement, the twins and the rings! What a wild ride. We both really enjoyed watching this series together. 10/10 if you love good story lines + football.
Do you have a series recommendation for what we should watch next?
We have watched Friday Night Lights, Longmire, Schitts Creek, Abbott Elementary and both approved.
2 // I'm collecting things for Easter baskets while also collecting this for the boy's birthday party at the end of the month. They're having a birthday fiesta. Do you want to see a sneak peek of their invitation - Fiesta Fletcher and a Three-esta for Leo?? I had so much fun making and texting out their invitation!
3 // Have you ever planted a little herb garden in pots? I'm thinking I'd love to have fresh herbs on my patio this Summer. I would love green onions/chives, basil, dill, thyme, rosemary, mint, etc. Would that work to do in pots??
4 // Do you follow Kate Lewis @kateonthedaily on instagram?? She's wonderful. I adore her Southern style so much. Her accent is wonderful and she's got the best tips on hosting and event planning. She wears a neck scarf better than most and her accessories are always dreamy. Go check her out! She's also got chickens, is very real and I love when her husband shows up on her stories.
5 // Have you tried the Garden Salsa Sun Chips? I could polish off one bag in no time. Same with several other people in my house.
6 // Did you follow the Murdaugh trial?? Prominent, very powerful local attorney Alex Murdaugh was on trial for killing his wife and youngest son and also has several ongoing investigations into him stealing money ($10+ million!!) from former clients. I watched both documentaries - Netflix and HBO - on the Murdaugh family and their story is WILD. Their family has been the most powerful family in their area of South Carolina for 100+ years. It was sad to hear the community come forward with stories of mistreated and even murdered by the Murdaughs. Kevin might tell you that it's disturbing that I love these real life murder mysteries, but they're just so interesting to me.
7 // I'm in the middle of organizing the kid's closets for Spring/Summer. It's always a huge task because the kids grow so much from year to year that they outgrow nearly everything from the previous year. Some of my kids are easier to please than others in the clothing department which means the front seat of my van has a whole stack of rejected clothing items to be returned. I've saved Fletcher's clothes to pass down to Leo and I'm going to work on selling Olive's outgrown items.
8 // Have you listened to Morgan Wallen's new album?? It's long, but there are some great songs on it! I loved that he did a free concert to celebrate the release in Nashville and at his hometown high school.
9 // Back to birthdays - what gift ideas do you have for a 3 year old boy and a 7 year old boy?? One of the boys has been curating his Amazon wish lists for most of 2023. He's got no shortage of gift ideas for himself and his love for list making makes me smile.
10 // Do you organize your week around trash day? Our trash day is tomorrow so every Wednesday I work extra hard to declutter, throw away things and get rid of junk. It hurts my heart if trash day rolls around and I haven't filled up our trash cans. Why is my brain like this?? Always working, always organizing and scheduling. Kevin also thinks this is nuts. It's a good thing he has me or else we'd be living amongst the land of piles :)
Thanks for listening! I hope you have the best day :) Chat back with me in the comments!
We need to revisit Friday night lights. Years ago we got through the first couple seasons and then for some reason I needed a break. I need to pick it back up sometime! I grow basil and green onions in pots. I just get the green onions in the vegetable section at the grocery store and put them in a glass of water until their roots get a little bit longer and then plant them. They both seem to love being in a pot! Your chocolate zucchini bread cakes looks so delicious! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI watched the HBO Murdaugh series along with the Dateline and 20/20 episodes…..oh my word! I provide speech therapy in the homes for children of families on Medicaid and it broke my heart how Alex stole from the underprivileged. And all the other unsolved murders….and to think if they had not recovered the video at the kennel he probably would not have been found guilty. Honestly I don’t think Alex, Maggie, Buster, or Paul were kind hearted people.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way about trash day. Thanks for the new follow for Instagram. I have worked on "decluttering" who I follow, but definitely trust your recommendations!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are currently watching Friday Night Lights. We are still in the first season but we love it. We finished Longmire and really enjoyed it too. Some of the clean shows we have binge watched are Heartland, Hart of Dixie, and When Calls the Heart. I think we have a heart theme going on with those shows! If you want to watch a funny show try The Ranch with Ashton Kutcher. It is not clean but it will make you laugh.
ReplyDeleteYay!! Coffee chats!! It's been forever since I commented (#life) but I've been keeping up with your blog!
ReplyDelete1. Those bundts look amazing!! So adorable and yummy-looking!!
2. Our middle two boys share and bday and will be 3 and 5 next month! For the 3yo ideas you asked about...I'm thinking Magnatiles, Hot Wheels, a kid wristwatch, or outdoor toys are high on our list. Our boys requested a Hot Wheels theme and pizza for dinner. :) The three-esta is such a cute theme idea for Leo!
3. I love growing herbs!! I have chives in a pot that come up every year and are very neglected. Mint is also super easy to grow. In my regular garden I have thyme and sage that comes up every year and I usually add cilantro (pico de gallo!!) and rosemary. Rosemary is a hard one to grow in our area northern Ohio, you are probably somewhat similar but maybe warmer?).
4. Kids clothes is totally a part-time job, right?? I've been thinking of asking one of the sweet older ladies from church or a preteen girl that love to help us out if they would come play with my kids while I tackle the switch to spring/summer closets!
5. What is your current fave coffee/hot drink? I met with my mama small group last week and enjoyed a Butter Bear latte (butterscotch/caramel) but at home I tend to go with Costco organic coffee with vanilla almond milk creamer. Occasionally I'll treat myself to a homemade latter with the Magnolia Table recipe-- SO easy if you haven't tried it! (Warm milk/sugar/cinnamon in mason jar in microwave, top with lid and shake, then pour into half cup of coffee....there will be foam on top from shaking the Mason jar!).
Happy March!
Have you watched Outer Banks? It's a good one. Also Ginny and Georgia. I recently rewatched The Middle and I fell in love with it all over again.
ReplyDeleteKeeping up with the clothes is such a big job and the seasons roll by so quickly! Marty was suuuuper sensitive to long pants/cords/tags etc. and had a completely different body type than his little brother so even though I'd save clothes, a lot didn't get used. BUT, I LOVED when a t-shirt made it through all three boys. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI also loved Schitt's Creek and we're watching Abbott Elementary and really like it. Also enjoying Home Economics and A Million Little Things. My friend recommended Young Sheldon, but I haven't tried that yet. I'm loving Dead to Me, but lots of f-bombs and my husband doesn't dig it, so that and Call the Midwife are shows I watch when he's not home. (Totally opposite ends of the drama spectrum! :-))
I suspect you'll have good luck with all those herbs in containers. One note, make sure mint is in its own. Its a perennial and takes over everywhere, so don't ever plant in the ground (lesson learned from years ago when we were renting and our front yard was juniper bushes and mint!)
Love reading about all the things that are on your mind. Your birthday party invites are darling!
