Conversation with Felines

Oliver & Topher love to be together.
They keep each other company and are best buds.
They both wanted my attention when I came home the other day
and they looked so cute that I decided to have a photo shoot.
Hi handsome boys!  How was your day?
 We missed YOU!
Why did you leave us for so long?
 Topher was naughty...
he slept on your pillow, made a mess of his food and meowed all day long.
 That's a LIE!
I was an angel; Oliver snoozed the day away so he has no clue what I was up to.
Who are you going to believe?
Let's all just get along.
You're both sweet and you deserve a treat :)
My cats crack me up! :)  Hope they made you smile too!

Pencil Flags

I'm always amazed at how excited my students get over
a brand new, perfectly sharpened pencil.
I knew when I found these at The Dollar Tree that I couldn't pass them up:
I put them on sharpened pencils and topped them with a new eraser.
 The kids loved them!
I was amazed at how their handwriting improved
and how proud they were to write with their new, bedazzled pencil.

Sweet Shot Tuesday

I've been practicing using my new camera lately.
Here are my favorite shots this month:

Trader Joes

Have you ever heard of Trader Joe's?
I had always heard great things about it but never really knew what it was.
Las Vegas has several store.
We ended up near one and I "forced" Kevin to go in.
I didn't realize that it was a grocery store
with special "Trader Joe" brand things for affordable prices.
They have really unique items, all their products are preservative free except for salt and
tons of great produce, flowers, etc.
They do taste testing in all departments.
Powerberries are my new favorite treat.
Wish I would have bought several bags of these.
Somehow Kevin befriended the store manager, taste tested, got a tour
and learned all about the store while we were there.
He a a major proponent of shopping at Trader Joe's now :)
My mission was accomplished.

We got some "inside information" that Salt Lake
will be getting their very own Trader Joe's
Apparently the store manager is scheduled to come up to Salt Lake
to train employees this fall so I think he is a credible source.
Go here to find a location nearest you.

Sweet Ruby Jane Confections

We stumbled upon this sweet shop while in Vegas.
I wasn't sure if it was cupcakes or chocolates
but knew I had to check it out.
I was drooling over their assortment of yummy chocolates.
We tried their peanut clusters, turtles, fudge, cookie pops and carmels.
Practically Perfect Pretzels that were delish!
Cookie pops: Chocolate cookie with chocolate filling dipped in chocolate.
I was skeptical but it was outstanding!!
Their branding and labeling was amazing!
"Handcrafted confections with a retro flair" is their slogan.
Everything was color coordinated, had high quality print work and their chocolates were great.
Check out their site: here to order some of your own.
Boxes for their carmels and turtles
Each item was individually packaged in clear, sealed packages or in wax bags:
Everything was outstanding!
This was one impressive shop; it gives me ideas for a shop of my own :)
We swung by here on the way out of town to get some chocolate for the road.

Favorite Restaurants in Vegas

Food is really important to us :).
So Kevin and I always try to plan ahead
to be able to eat at some of the best restaurants in a city we are visiting.
Here are our favorites in Vegas:
1. Hard Rock Cafe
We road the monorail, walked a million miles
and ended up here for dinner.
The world's BEST burger according to Kevin.
The Anti-Cob salad
which was delish!!
Craisins, green apples, strawberries, oranges & mangoes
*I took off the avocado salad b/c I've yet to acquire a taste for that.
It had a great balsamic dressing on the side.
 2. We found an amazing local pizza place called
Joe's New York Pizza
It was thin, chewy, oh so fresh pizza.
We were able to finish off the WHOLE thing.
 3. The Original Sunrise Cafe
*We made time to fit this into our schedule TWICE over our visit.
The have indoor, patio and counter top seating.
3 GIANT blueberry pancakes for me
HUGE, fresh blueberries filling each pancake
shared scrambled eggs and crunchy bacon
 french toast for Kev
This adorable cafe had Bible verses posted everywhere,
a cross collage by the register and a word of the day
with a different Bible verse each day.
They also had super friendly staff, met the owner,
and would highly recommend you going to this place
if you ever find yourself in Henderson, NV for breakfast.
LOVED everything about this place.

 4. Bahama Breeze
We stopped in this yummy restaurant for dessert one night.
Banana nut bread
topped with fresh cut bananas, carmel sauce, vanilla bean ice cream.
