Top 10

Happy Friday! Hope you've had a great week.  It's been a busy week here.  Kevin's got a lot going on at work and he had a scooter accident last weekend.  He was racing around the driveway on one of the kid's scooters.  His front wheel got stuck in the mud and he went airborne.  I really thought he'd broken something because he landed hard on the driveway.  Thankfully, he was bundled up so everything was covered except his hand.  Ouch!  Poor hand got really banged up and he was sore all over for days.  Guess we're getting old haha

I'm headed into Olive's classroom today.  I am excited to read with her.  It's always fun to see her in her element.  We're gearing up for all the Valentine's Day festivities next week - treats for Kevin's coworkers, Olive's class party and some fun baking for friends.  Should be fun!

Top 10 Moments of Our Week

1. Be My Valentine
Our house is all decked out for Valentine's Day.  I don't have a ton of decorations, but the little pops of red and pink make me smile.  We've been doing some valentine baking and festive food eating.  Check out my Valentine Dessert Board below!  It was so good.  My family loved it so much that we'll be doing it again next week on the 14th.

Andrea from Momfessionals puts out the cutest Doodletowns for holidays.  They're free and so much fun to color with your kids.  I printed out a couple of sets for Valentine's Day.  We've had the best time coloring them and adding stickers to them all week long.  We all love them.  My 2 year old tries really hard to color them, my 5 year old enjoys them and I really do, too.  Here's the link to her latest doodles: Valentine Doodletown

2.  College Basketball
We got to go to an ISU Women's Basketball game.  It was so much fun!  We all enjoyed it.  The kids were excited to see the Chick-Fil-A cow and high give Sycamore Sam.

3. Church
The chalkboards at our church are always so pretty!  I need to meet the talented person in charge of them to take some chalking lessons.

4. Date Night IN
We haven't had a date night lately so we are trying to improvise with fun things after the kids go to bed.  I'll pick up a fun dessert (we love the Meijer cheesecake slices that you can buy in a two pack) and watch a show together.  We are currently watching Manifest (SO GOOD!) or Titans.

5. Flowers of Love
A surprise delivery of flowers showed up at my house one afternoon.  Kevin knows I don't usually like surprises, but I can get on board with surprise flowers.

6. Fun Baths
The kids have really been enjoying some fun baths.  We have done a dinosaur bath and a chef bath.  It can be a challenge to find fun things for kids to do inside this time of year and these baths are really fitting the bill.  I try to post them on instagram so follow along if you think your kids would enjoy them (@polkadottyplace)

7. Snow days & Delays
We have had several snow days and delays this month.  The kids don't mind one bit to stay home in their pjs a little longer.  And bonus if they're matching snowy pjs.

9. Letter boards
I have a couple of letter boards, but I haven't been good about changing them much lately.  They're hanging in my house with the same message - Home is our Happy Place and I do try to change this one for the holidays.  My chalkboard is currently blank.  I need to fix that!

10. Tennis!
Olive is several weeks into tennis and she's loving it!!  We are having fun watching her play.  It'll be really fun when the weather warms up and we can get outside and play.

Hope you've got fun plans for your weekend!  We're sticking close to home and have big plans to RELAX :)

  1. I love your Valentine's Décor. I'm thinking it was cause of pregnancy brain, I blame that on everything, but I never got any of my décor out. I have a bunch of hand towels that are too cute. Looks like you guys are having many ways of fun! Have a great weekend!

Glad he didn't break anything, but soreness after something like that is never fun. Enjoy reading with Olive today and have a happy Valentine's week to come! xo - Brenda // ChattingOverChocolate.com

  5. Lots of fun stuff in this post, but I have to tell you that your "at home date night" made me totally grin! When our kids were young we developed a pattern of Thursday nights being dessert and TV night for us. After the kids would go to be, we'd (duh) have dessert and watch our fav shows. The kids (now grown) love to talk about how they hear the spoons clanking on bowls and know we were eating. LOL. It's a hilarious memory (that apparently scarred them for life. LOL) They love to bring it up and we all have a good laugh. Enjoy your dessert and TV with your hubby!!! XO

  6. I love the dinosaur bath pic...so fun! I think I will be using your dessert board idea for our Valentine's day. Everyone will love it! So sorry to hear about Kevin's injury. Michael pulled something one time while playing xbox Just Dance with the kids. It took months before he felt normal again. Have a wonderful weekend! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road
