Amazima Ministries

Have you ever heard of Amazima Ministries?
I had not until I received this bracelet for my birthday.
My friend Erin gave it to me and highly encouraged me to check out
Katie's amazing, inspirational blog and Amazima Ministries website.
Both sites are really interesting and inspiring!

Katie is a 23 year old lady who has done some amazing things in Uganda.
She moved to Uganda full time in 2008 when she was only 18, taught kindergarten,
adopted children, founded a school, and Amazima Ministries International.

Their site mentions 7 ways that you can help out Amazima Ministries International.

If you are looking for an organization to donate to this time of year,
Amazima would be a great one!

Amazima serves the poor and vulnerable in Uganda through
child sponsorship (over 400 children), feeding programs
(over 1,600 children each day Monday through Friday),
community outreach, medical care, vocational initiatives,
and spiritual discipleship.

Sweet Shot Tuesday

I'm linking up with Darcy at Sweet Shot Tuesday
again this week.
Here are my best shots of the week:
I challenge you to take more pictures than you did last week :)

REAL Christmas Tree

Christmas in the Heilman household involved lots of artificial Christmas trees.
Christmas in the Jordan household involved one real tree.

Naturally there was a dilemma when we got married.
We got an artificial tree for our first Christmas
and went on to use it for five years.

Last year, Kevin convinced me we should just go and look at real trees.
I went to the tree lot
and was SOLD!
We got our first real tree.
Tune in later this week to see our tree for this year!

Magic Marshmallow Puffs

Do you ever have left overs of an ingredient that you are trying to get rid of?
I seemed to have an abundance of large marshmallows lately.
Then I remembered this recipe that my mom used to make:
Magic Marshmallow Puffs
You just need a few ingredients:
1 tube of crescent rolls
cinnamon & sugar
1/4 c melted butter
1 large marshmallow for each crescent roll
 Dunk marshmallow in melted butter
Roll butter coated marshmallow into cinnamon/sugar mixture until well coated.
Start with small end of crescent roll triangle and roll up.
Be sure to pinch all sides closed.
Put in a greased pan, pour remaining butter on top and sprinkle cinnamon/sugar on top.
 Optional: Top with chopped pecans
Bake until marshmallow melts or about 10 minutes.
 Easy breakfast :)
Thanks for the recipe mom :)

Holiday Gift Swap

Have you ever done a holiday gift swap with complete strangers??

I learned about this gift swap from E Tells Tales.
So I signed up through Ardor Blog to participate
in a handmade gift swap back in October of this year.
They put you in groups of five, you exchange information via e-mail
with 4 other ladies across the country.
We were asked to mail out our packages by Dec. 1st.

I'm excited to see what shows up in my mailbox this month!
Check back to see the gifts that I sent and the ones I receive.
Aren't the holidays fun?

Happy Anniversary!

One year ago... my brother got married in Santa Claus, IN.
Wishing you many more years of happiness.
Happy Anniversary Tyler, Tabitha & Addison!

Genius Idea...

I recently read a great idea about how to organize your measuring spoons
on The Tiny Twig and I quickly jumped on board.
Instead of having to dig around in your silverware drawer to find a measuring spoon,
put them in a lidless glass jar so they are all in one spot!
Genius I tell you :)
I have five sets of spoons to try and keep track of.
It easily fits in your cabinet too!
This is how I've always organized my measuring cups.
My Pampered Chef giant mixing bowl is the perfect spot to house them.
Now they are both in very similar containers and easy to use.

Jewelry of the Month Club

If I had tons of money,
I'd sign myself and my closest friends up for
J. Crew's jewelry of the month club for Christmas.
You can stop stressing about what to gift the most stylish woman in your life, because J. Crew’s jewelry of the month club is the chicest way to please her exquisite tastes, year’round! J. Crew’s designers hand-select an exclusive statement-making piece each month (think bold bib necklaces, chunky bracelets and jeweled earrings) and send it right to her door! The cost for the entire year (shipping included) is $850 and she can expect her first bauble in January 2010. Jewelry not her vice? Consider the shoe of the month club or cashmere of the month club, both for $1800. Thanksgiving for Cats

Everyone likes to celebrate the holidays.
Here's how my cats celebrated:
Topher distracted Oliver so he could move in on his turkey.
 Topher got what he wanted...
Mmmmmm Mmmmm Good :)
